    Congress guy
Tara is always great and I respect the young congressmen, but it seems like all he can do is preach to the converted. Maybe young people aren’t tuning in into conventional news, mainstream news because it’s not a very good product elite become complacent, and all they do is talk to each other and I never hear anyone saying anything. Genuinely interesting, it’s all boilerplate. My family have been Democrats since FDR were a labor family. It makes me sad that our party has gotten to where we are. I’m switching away from a lot of the commentary that I used to listen to because of what I’ve just described it’s easy to find other podcasts that are very interesting, I don’t know how to create a newspaper or podcast or cable that actually engages and interests young people I’m not that smart I’m not in your business but I really hope that you up your game you can’t beat something with nothing. It seems like all I hear is the same old complaints about Trumpfor God sakes do and say something that’s different and interesting. Don’t be chained to the trivia of the day. I wish you well I’m a loyal fan. I’m a loyal Democrat but I am a bit disappointed right now take care. Have a great day.

I had to give up on this
I tried to listen to this for a while to get a more broad perspective on what’s going on in political media but unfortunately Tara seems to be like most mainstream media outlets where she’s more just filtering talking points from insiders rather than doing actual journalism. She seems to fall into the trap that balance is not the same as objectivity

Just more Trump sane washing and Democrat blaming.
Tara, your takes on Biden’s pardons were deeply unserious. Trump is Godzilla-stomping on the rules, norms, checks and balances, and decency that used to form the foundation of our democracy and yet you attack Biden for shielding his family in a bunker with pardons while Kash Patel looks likely to be given a job where he can baselessly attack Trump’s political enemies. Please try to do better.

    Tough to listen to
Palmeri is just plain hard to listen to…a bit too narcissistic and self interested to be a good presenter IMO. Well produced show though.

    Mom episode is the best!
Mom episode is the best! Mother-daughter communication and relationship shows Tara’s interviewing chops. Mom is well spoken too

    Hmmm
Your O’Malley interview was interesting: you kept asking inside baseball questions (“Who do you think will be the democratic nominee in 2028?” “What do you think of Kamala and should she run again?” ) and he kept going back to “if we want to govern , we have to win!” So my question is do we democrats want to govern or do we just want to win? What would we have done if we had won other than keep out Trump? Would we govern only in the interest of blue states or even do that? Great show keep up the good work !!

    Fabulous Reporter, Very Informative
Now that somebody has won, I sure hope this podcast gets rebranded and we continue to hear from Tara on a weekly basis - I love that I can’t tell who she voted for bc she’s an actual reporter and an excellent one at that. It’s nice to have a place to get current political updates without all the non sense.

    Great reporter and host
Tara gives information through her reporting and really gives it to you in a way where you can decide yourself how you view the info. Truly unbiased host and then has guests representing all areas are sides that are always interesting!

    Cynical

    Very Informative
Tara is a great host. I have enjoyed the diverse mix of guests, opinions and conversations during this election cycle.

    Love this podcast!
Tara is so entertaining and interesting to listen to. I have to admit that I’ve inherited some of her anxiety through my headphones over the last few weeks, but I can’t blame her. There’s SO MUCH at stake in this election, on both sides. I’m not non-partisan, but I appreciate Tara’s approach to giving both sides a voice. Tara, I hope you’ll continue to build and grow this podcast throughout the entire term. In the next 4 years, there’s no telling how far you can go! Your voice is appreciated and needed. Kudos to you!

Shallow reporting that - if the podcaster wasn’t a cute female - would be an object of ridicule. It’s no wonder they love her in Trump World. She’s an empty vessel.

Great and easy pod to listen to
Tara is a great host and the pod is a good mix of serious journalism and funny takes on the election

    As ideologically neutral as incisive
I’m several weeks into listening to this podcast and I still cannot tell who Tara is voting for. I’m sure that she *does* have a personal stake in this election, but her reporting is razor-sharp tuned toward reality-seeking discovery rather than wishful advocacy or magical thinking. I don’t believe that she is *actually* ideologically neutral, but her delivery effectively comes across as disinterested (just look at some of the other reviewers here, one complaining she’s too leftist, the other complaining she’s too conservative). And for myself: I am of course *not* politically neutral—but, when I want to learn more about the world as it is, rather than the world as I wish it would be, I feel that Tara has been an excellent resource for information. I’m in a bit of a rush at the moment, and would love to leave a longer review, but for now I’ll just say this: Tara is incredibly hot, and I don’t even know what she looks like. Her confidence and charm are nimble and unyielding, like titanium. She’s never got time for fluff, never got time for empty flattery or the blame game, and so her engagement with guests always feels productive in the pursuit of breadth and depth; and yet, she’s totally disarming and relaxed, comes off like a fun and easygoing acquaintance—though you can feel the perceptiveness of her attention. She brings to mind the phrase “a powerful woman,” in the mould of what is now a seemingly outmoded stereotype: someone who doesn’t loudly proclaim her own capability and intelligence, because there is no need to. Her work simply speaks for itself.
  • agent for chaos
    Closet Trumper
Tara is obviously a closet Trumper. Her simplistic views (surprise! A NY Post alum) and her insight into the polity relying on the views of her mother and father are embarrassing
  • Lik2bikarmy
    You screwed up this time
I may not agree with you and I’m a bit critical of your partisan reporting but you really blew it this time. Who the f are you to say JD Vance wasn’t really deployed or really in combat because of his job? What do you know of these sacrifices he and others have made going someplace where everyone who looks at you could very well be someone who’s going to kill you? Had he been a victim of a green-on-blue attack, would that mean he really wasn’t a combat KIA? Truly disgusted. Sergeant Major, US Army, retired.

    Has drifted too far left
Pod was always a little left of center but had some integrity to complement or callout both sides as needed. Since around the time Kamala entered the race, the show pivoted to generally slam Trump, feed into non-policy drama or throw flowers at Kamala. Once in a great while will Tara be objective about the conservative side. About impossible to find an objective news or political commentary source. This pod was at one time but has really fell off.
  • Balling penguin
    Republican slant
Palmieri can’t quit a partisan slant on her podcast, so if you like objectively, move on. She should brush up on her economics in order to have a better grasp on the root causes of inflation, tariffs, deficit spending, and tax cuts ( Trump Admin) . Glad to see Palmieri can turn Trump into a legitimate candidate and ignore his lies, deceit, grift, nepotism, and age.
  • ImSmarterThanEveryoneAtPuck
If you want nothing but Republicans talking…
This podcast has shown its true face since Biden dropped out. I am strongly considering unfollowing all Ringer Podcasts. Tho Megan McCain claiming she doesn’t have “daddy issues” is the funniest thing I’ve ever heard from someone who says “my father” 48,000 times a day

    Way too many false equivocations
There is absolutely nothing legitimate about Trump and the MAGA movement in the context of a democratic republic. This isn’t just a “weird election cycle” — it’s a calculated effort to dismantle our system of government and rewrite the Constitution to suit an authoritarian agenda. To treat an openly insurrectionist, racist, anti-suffragist, xenophobic, white nationalist movement as anything less than traitorous and criminal is to enable its rise. Let me be clear: I’m not here to criticize the production quality of this podcast, which stands on par with everything else The Ringer. Nor am I challenging the host and producers’ right to free speech. My point is that the dangerous state of our nation today — this deeply divided, chaotic mess — is, in part, the result of a Fourth Estate that has failed in its duty as the people's watchdog. Corporate media decided long ago that it's more profitable to cover political figures like a reality show, where sensationalism and spectacle trump the truth. It's more “entertaining” to normalize hateful, destructive demagoguery for clicks and views than it is to expose the insidious motives driving the MAGA movement. The GOP has become a party that thrives on fear and subjugation, abandoning the principles of our Constitution and the spirit of democracy. If we allow the press to cover the very unraveling of our republic with neutrality and spectacle, we are, in essence, giving a slow, complicit nod to the death of free press itself. I am profoundly disappointed that The Ringer would support this kind of journalism.

    Excellent Opinion and reporting
Great reporting. Keep up the good work. Palmieri seems to blend opinion journalism with actual reporting which stands out. Well connected and balanced pod.

    Post debate with Julie Mason
A few minutes in, guest Julie Mason shared her big hot take from the debate, that Harris looked at Trump too much, “like a dog,” “not an alpha move.” Palmieri agreed, and that’s when I realized neither of them has anything worthwhile to say, moved on to another podcast.

Was looking for a solid middle of the road podcast. This isn’t it. I don’t think it’s liberal or conservative. Unfortunately, it’s not smart or entertaining either. Pretty bad.

Did Kamala piss in your cheerios?
That would be the only reasonable justification for the constant belittling of her skills and strategy on this podcast. Edit: There seems to be some (hopefully not bad faith) meta-commentary on these, so I thought it might be helpful to give an example. On the August 23 episode, at like 12 minutes in, the host declaims that not giving mainstream media interviews is a terrible strategy from the Harris campaign. But then she goes on to say that Harris is not good at the live interview format. If that second claim were true, then how could it be a bad campaign strategy to avoid putting the candidate in a format in which she’s weak? The two statements aren’t internally consistent, and they strike the listener as evidence that the host is reaching to somehow try and “both sides” this election, truth be damned.

    WHAT?!?!
A few of these reviews are bad takes. I’m a registered Democrat and love this podcast. Even when the show features either MAGA apologists or opinions, I simply disagree and keep listening. I’m not outraged. Tara does her job and comes off as apolitical. She’s like an old school, beat reporter. I still don’t know (or care) how she leans, and that’s why she’s great at what she does. I learn how others analyze and debate topics when there is MAGA guest or MAGA leaning opinion. That’s how we’re supposed to stay informed, no?

Pretty sure, unless Kamala sits on Tara’s lap and gives an interview, Tara will continue to scream over and over and over again about the Harris media strategy

    The best!
I follow a number of Ringer Pods but just recently became aware of Somebody’s Gotta Win and I love it! Never miss an episode. Tara is very bright but she really uses the pod as an opportunity to let her guests speak. She drives the conversation without controlling the narrative. I didn’t think journalists like this were still around. Such great content!

Platforming Steve Schmidt on your emergency pod is laughable and with that move destroyed your credibility. Good bye Tara. Good riddance.

    Best at up-to-the-minute topics
There’s occasionally breaking news / reporting, the analysis episodes don’t tend to go very deep (or offer any analysis other than the direction the herd is moving) – but for fast-turnaround topics, the discussion ends up being valuable
  • Procrastinate
    Great show
Tara is crushing the political reporting beat. She sits down with the all the people(on both sides) playing the game at the highest level and gets answers about what they are doing and why without falling into just the usual platform rhetoric. If you want to learn about how people run elections and what is going on behind the scenes, this show is fantastic. Truly a "big boy" podcast for the ringer podcast network.
  • Hollywood_Wonder
    Great idea… no execution
Loved the idea of this podcast when it first started… then we got the actual product. Just continuously feels like a pro-Trump podcast. Bummed out, I love the Ringer and assumed it would be a right down the middle type of show. But.. nope. Maybe next time, Bill.
  • lamslamslams
    Impressive and straightforward
Really enjoy hearing the facts in a no frills and calm manner. It is so difficult to find a political podcast that presents facts without bias (reminder - facts that you don’t like are not bias) and Tara does an amazing job. Highly recommend
  • iBob18052
    My first choice
I was impressed with Tara from Real Time with Bill Maher. She is the smartest person in the room. Her guests are top notch. She does a great job staying in the middle of the polarization. I wish I could afford to subscribe to her in PUCK, but I am grateful and appreciative to listen here for free.
  • Talola
    Expected more from The Ringer
Too much MAGA propaganda unchecked — including stop the steal election disinfo. If you’re looking for “the horse race, not the stakes” type coverage, Tara is usually pretty good in that form. But at Puck, they don’t provide a platform for misinformation like this. I expected more from the Ringer as far as standards. Maybe even that they’d take a pro-Democracy stand. But there’s always a chance that the problems here are worked out. I unsubscribed, but I’ll check in again down the road.

    The calm, during this storm!
Thank you for your podcast! Thank you for being nonpartisan in a time when it is so rare!
  • Not a reactionary
    Cynical and unconcerned with truth
If you want a podcast that is about the practice of politics that seems unconcerned about the truth or the stakes, this podcast is for you! The host comes across as not particularly partisan (so that’s a plus!) but also deeply cynical and disillusioned. I listened to this podcast during the 2020 election season, but at this point I give up for 2024 election season. The tone feels somewhat bored and aggrieved which makes for an unpleasant and not particularly illuminating listen.
  • tomolshan
    Shameful on all fronts.
This show is awful. Trump propaganda. Not even sure Tara knows she’s supposed to be interviewing, not just blowing trump all episode.
  • Heavy Mental Army
    Too many republican guests.
I genuinely like the show, but in the last few weeks it’s been one gop strategist after another. The show is meant to be about the current ‘24 election, but seems to wallow in “what’s going on with Trump?” show to show. It gets tedious. Please bring in more Democrat voices to even out the deluge of current, former, Trump strategists. PLEASE.

Could NOT listen to show on Trump and abortion due to horrible sound. Your guest was on a speaker phone (?) and could barely understand him. Turned it off. Do better, please.

Gagging down the agendas from the political parties puts my Prozac in therapy. However, this charming host provides the glitter to the hope, in navigating the noise. She avoids typical headline grabbing abuse from misunderstood voters while simplifying comments from guests by asking clarifying questions. The show helps listeners identify why people in D.C. are supporting candidates with more context than “party driven.” Highly recommended the show for those who have found self-worth.
  • Waybackward
    Meh
Kind of surprised that the Ringer is willing to put its name of this podcast. Definitely not up to the generally high standards of Bill Simmons projects. Tara is ill informed (as evidenced by the number of times guests have to correct her on basic facts), not a good interviewer and just generally out of her depth. Political podcasts are a dime a dozen and there are plenty of better ones out there to spend your time on.
  • JR242408
    I enjoy this show
While I can tell the host definitely leans liberal which doesn’t align with me exactly, I think she’s pretty fair and she has a wide range of guests on. I see other reviews bad mouthing it, but I believe that’s because they’re people that are so full on democrats or so full on republicans that you couldn’t ever make them happy unless everything you say and everyone you have on aligns with their beliefs. World needs more shows like this
  • Dysingers
    Usually love the Ringer
I love pretty much every Ringer show, and I’m a diehard political junkie. However, this show is a tough listen. The host struggles in interviews and it feels way below the typical professionalism found at the Ringer.
