-
sunshinestarrEvery other word seems to be a cuss wordLook, I cuss too, I’m no angel, but this is no way to conduct an interview. It’s excessive.
-
ALGCALIGreat interviewsI didn’t really need another interview podcast, but I heard an ad for Weird Work and decided to try it. Sam gets such a wide variety of weirdos to talk to! Particularly liked learning about the hand model, ASMR YouTuber, and Elvis impersonator. Keep up the weird work!
-
ryanwolfwinsso goodI think this podcast is right on the money. More people should learn about weird jobs. Keep up the good work.
-
GabSar2013Funny & InformativeCan't get enough!
-
averydeadbirdFantasticIntriguing guests and good interviewing. Love it.
-
Ash_FellerInteresting and inspiring! Each of these job professions are so interesting. After listening to the podcast, you're inspired to think about different “wacky” career paths you might be interested in!
-
Peepers1979Interesting topics but too longThe concept is cool with a variety of odd jobs I’ve never even consider or thought about prior to listening to the podcast. However I think two jobs could be discussed per episode since focusing on just one otter seems long and I lose interest since it sort of drags on after awhile.

lwsjffLike Dirty Jobs For The Rest Of UsIt’s fascinating to hear how people make it. Work can mean a lot of different things to different people. It’s humbling to hear other stories that help you put your own experience in perspective.

mcpup89WonderfulThis podcast is entertaining and time flies when I listen

Rjbrumfield90Be gone, boring 9-5 jobs!I love love love this podcast! I used to watch Mike Rowe a lot on TV, and I have always been fascinated at what people do for a vocation outside of an office cubicle. I have learned about some pretty interesting character doing pretty amazing jobs! I listen to almost every episode, and it makes me so happy to know that I made the right decision to be self-employed!
-
Fallon GLove these guys!Ive been going through a hard time lately and my new favorite pick-me-up is listening to this podcast! Sam's banter always makes me laugh. Love you guys!
-
nblois5 stars all aroundSam is a great interviewer. Feels casual and conversational. He asks insightful questions as well as the ones we’re all dying to know the answers to. The guests are amazing. I love learning about weird jobs, especially the ones I’ve never heard of before. I now want to become a professional mermaid! Love this podcast!
-
aly4578As if the title wasn’t great enoughThis podcast tells amazing stories that inspire us - I mean, who doesn’t love weird things?

Ultralight7A great idea suffers from a poor hostWeird Work is a terrific podcast in theory - a program that highlights the weird nature of people’s bizarre odd-jobs that we never consider as “work” in day to day life. That gets stinted by Sam Balter. Balter’s hyper-casual interview style borders on awkward at times - he drops heavy cussing way before a guest does - if they do at all, and he’s quick to diverge into small talk that’s entirely derailing to the interview. His interview questions are rarely compelling, and thus, it’s reliant entirely on the guest to provide substance for the show. I’ve loved hearing the guests, but sitting through Balter’s bizarre, too-casual interview style sounds more like each of the said guests is being interviewed by an overly excited campus radio host - not a professional.

carahcountscuriouser and curiouserSuper interesting and gets better each time!
-
_tinydancer_Almost...but not quiteThe content and concept are interesting but the interviews tend to be a little lackluster. Honestly, I just can’t get past the interviewer’s voice. Is he perpetually holding his nose or does he always have a sinus infection?
-
Tolson12Hmmmmm....Am I listening to the same podcast as all these reviewers? The host is more concerned about being agreeable and liked than doing a good interview. I think he asked Wells Adams basically the same question but in different ways three times throughout the interview. Also maybe he was sick but his sinuses sounded like they were all clogged up and he had a constant frog in his throat. Great concept but the host needs a lot of training.
-
Jinxy86Fun and InterestingI love the variety of guests, and they’re all obviously passionate about what they do. Every episode has a really good discussion, and I enjoy hearing how and why people do what they do, or how they turn their weird idea/hobby into a career.

TheblindmanashetookouthishammerandsawGood stuff!I could listen for days man. Here are some things I like about it. • The jobs are genuinely weird and often highly specific. • Sam (the host) is good at balancing between letting the guest speak, asking questions, and talking about himself. The interviews feel very genuine and natural. • It’s not full on comedy or documentary, it’s a lighter sweet spot between the two that feels more real. I think it would be interesting if in the future they made some longer, more in depth episodes with more personal questions. It would be amazing if the podcast could follow a guest through their day of work (like actually being there with Sam explaining what is happening and how it feels, just getting an outside perspective on what the guest does). This podcast is still a baby, but I really enjoy it and I’m excited to hear more!
-
thedude009Annoying hostI don't know how anyone can listen to this podcast and not be annoyed. Does the host actually talk that way? Dude sounds like he's holding his nose the whole time.
-
ALXfergGreat break in my day from typical business and news podcastsI love listening to Weird Work because it breaks up my day from the typical news, business or storytelling Podcasts.
-
APlettRough startI’m sorry, the people being interviewed are really interesting, but the host sounds quite annoying. The questions he asks are okay for the most part, but the follow up comments don’t seem to really add much to the interview. I really want to like this show.
-
TucsonDawnEntertaining and inspiringThese episodes have been a hoot AND I feel creatively inspired to consider wild possibilities for “side gigs”. The sentiment is, “Well if *they* can do *that*, what can’t I do?!”
-
shinkaI39GREAT SHOW.I’ve listened to most times f the episodes so far and I loved them all! It’s so interesting to hear all those creative ways people make money and I think they’re all making others happy, fulfilling people’s sometimes peculiar needs. And so it’s great to hear about those work that makes people’s lives better and the very fact everyone on the show is enjoying their weird work very much. Also I like the way Sam asks questions that I’d think can be rude but we want to know. I feel inspired by listening to those interviews that both sides (Sam and the one interviewed) enthusiastic about what they are doing. Thanks Sam for this show!
-
Magpie1861Weirdly AwesomeI heard about this podcast at a Moth event in Boston last month, and instantly fell in love with Sam Balter. Every job is super bizarre, and they convey the information in very compelling stories!
-
Savvy808Savvy808Im loving this podcast! Please keep it going! You’re doing such an awesome job! My favorite episode is “I make AMSR Videos” I didn’t know such a thing existed and also didn’t know I too was affected similarly by certain sounds :) I love learning about people, myself and the world through your podcast :) Thanks to you and Hubspot for turning me on to this podcast! Aloha!!
-
JesseJames502Fun and strange!Have had a good time listening to these podcasts and listening to the strange works that people are dedicating themselves to.
-
ShannooonaIntrigued and disappointedSome Interesting content, but the theme song is cringe worthy and the host is irritating to listen to
-
RamonaSkhrjAnother win by HubSpotLove it!
-
tsc9982What a letdown(Most of) the guests are genuinely interesting, but the host isn't a very good interviewer, and his voice makes my ears bleed. He's mostly obnoxious, though nothing's more obnoxious than that theme song. And what's with the Ira Glass diss at the end of each episode?
-
smariebolaGreat, intellectual podcastHeard about this on the Great Life Podcast and I couldn’t listen fast enough- this is right up the ally of those who like “smart” podcasts, and can’t handle any more political stuff.
-
