    Keepin’ It Cultured
I love Kelly & Katai from Teen Creeps and always enjoy hearing their discussion around works of capital a Art. I’m so glad this is a podcast all its own, because honestly I can’t get enough of their content. Their choices of public domain reads is diverse and interesting. First they kept it creepy, now they’re keeping it cultured. LOVE.

    Love it!
They are so funny and as an added bonus I end up hearing of new authors to read! I have a Sherwood Anderson book from the library now because of their amazing read-through of “The Egg.” I first listened to this because of their episode reading Virginia Woolf and through this heard of their podcast Teen Creeps, which has become my favorite podcast.

    A good time
Thanks for making this! It was really fun. I knew I would enjoy the roasting of the bad stories, but I was surprised at how delightful it was when the hosts discovered good literature.

    Good Idea. Annoying Hosts
The hosts are irritating morons who lack the ability to infer concepts or examine context.

    Late & Lamented
If you’re anything like me, you’re heartbroken and bereft now that this podcast has come to an end. My suggestion for you to salve your aching heart is to head over to Paetreon and search for Teen Creeps. Then become a patron at the $8 level. Not only will you be in the birthplace of Public Domain Theatre, you’ll also get access to hours and hours of sweet, sweet content. If you’re reading this review trying to decide whether or not to download this podcast, the answer is an emphatic yes. Download all the episodes, quit your job, and shotgun them all back to back. Then get over to Paetreon and support Teen Creeps. You’ll thank me later.

    I miss this podcast!

    Weird premise, huge payoff
The two hilarious, silly, quick guests of Teen Creeps read weird public domain stories chosen by their producer Brett, then they make fun of the story and scream at Brett for choosing such trash. It’s so easy to get into, you can just drop in and laugh. Brett’s choices are so weird and funny and the ladies’ reactions make me scream with laughter. What a treasure this was while it lasted!

    Stick with Teen Creeps
Sorry to leave a lukewarm review, but I have such mixed feelings about this podcast. If you've listened to and loved Teen Creeps, be assured that Lindsay, Kelly and guests are funny as always. There's also an interesting selection of stories read aloud, some of them excellent and quite new to me. So I keep listening, even though... To me, the big thing that separates the tone of Public Domain Theater from Teen Creeps is that on that other podcast they (usually) seem to make an effort to see the positive in the books they read, even when they're pretty crappy. Here, however, they don't afford the short stories they read the same generosity, but constantly criticize and carp about everything. Rather than read and evaluate them on their own terms, they seem to always demand a certain style of storytelling and writing, and will complain whenever a story spends – in their view – too much time setting the stage, or jumps ahead too quickly without enough context, requiring readers to catch up, or ends too abruptly, leaving things too ambiguous, to take just three of their most common criticisms. (The common thread seems to be a certain impatience on their part.) I often feel like shouting at them, "If you don't like these kinds of stories, why do you have a podcast where you have to read them?!" Worse, the things they complain about are often things they've misunderstood or failed to grasp, such as Biblical allusions or simply words they don't know, and it can be excruciatingly annoying to listen to them go on and on when they're wrong or uninformed. A lot of these problems are no doubt due to the format, where they have to come up with something funny to say in real time about a story they've never read before, but maybe that's just not a great format for a podcast?

Fresh fun commentary for old classics
Every podcast Kelly and Lindsay host is enjoyable and this is no exception. Smart eviscerating commentary combined with sometimes actually decent public domain works make each episode a witty treat for the ears.

    Keep it Lit!
This is so much fun. I enjoy the old different stories. Some of the authors I know but others I've never heard of. When it's good, they really get into it. And when it's horrible, they are hilarious. Kelly and Katai are so funny!
  • Catslash33
    I don't know which I enjoy more
When the story is terrible and Kelly and Katai and (usually) guest rip it apart, or when the story is good and they get excited and invested in it. Either way, I love this podcast.

    Terrible
Just terrible. Was directed to this by Blacker and Acker at TAH. Thought it would be smart, funny and well done. What it is is sloppy and juvenile. It sounds like they picked up a book and instead of looking up anything that doesn’t make sense (bergomeister means mayor) they just read it out loud and made fun of anything they didn’t understand (kirchwasser is cherry water, it’s a regional drink). Three people mocking something they haven’t got the background to read in a way that will demonstrate comprehension of the story is a waste of time for all of us. Not funny, not smart, not well done.

All the best parts of TC with a twist!

    So good!
It’s like listening to an audiobook with commentary. I know it sounds weird. But trust me, it’s so good!

    Fun with Kelly and Katai
Kelly and Lindsay are hilarious. Their commentary is what we're all thinking with a solid dose of humor.

    Funny, incisive, addictive
I have a lit PhD from Berkeley, and I give this podcast an A for the hilarious commentary and smart analysis! I'm a fan of classic literature, but I can take a joke, and often they just perfectly nail what makes the fiction of the past seem so bizarre today. Can't stop listening.

    So fun!
I love Lindsay & Kelly! I started listening to PDT after I was fully hooked on Teen Creeps and wanting more. These ladies are hilarious, thoughtful, smart, etc. and their commentary cracks me up. You get me through my work day and I appreciate it so much ladies. Keep up the awesome work!

    Thought from a man
“I really like these ladies. You can tell they’re really smart but they sounds really dumb and it’s funny!”— My BF “What?”— Me “You know what I mean. Like what they’re saying is smart but the way they say it is dumb. It’s funny!”— My BF “What??”— Me “I donno! Whatever! Leave me alone. I like it! Play the thing.” — My BF

Absolutely in love with this podcast. As with many podcasts I love, I came because Travis McElroy was on it, and was set on a binge.

    Like an Audiobook but fun
This podcast has quickly risen to my favorites list. Imagine if story-time at your local library had a child with Mystery Science Theatre 3000. The child that was birthed is Public Domain Radio. Witty commentary with a side of classic literature. It’s pure entertainment!

    Less Creepy, More Culture
Love this show as an extension of the TCU (Teen Creeps Universe)! Kelly and Katai are the best, and getting to hear them talk one more time a week is a true delight. As a bonus, I also get to pretend I read old literature that I would probably find kinda boring if it wasn’t for the narrators! Thanks guys, and keep it cultured 💖

    A pleasant recitation
As a huge fan of Teen Creeps, I’m so happy that Kelly and Katai have allowed the rest of us mere mortals to listen to more of their lovely voices. I am constantly laughing out loud by their hilarious renditions. So happy I usually listen in the car. I think my favorite episode so far is “The Egg” with Rhea Butcher. I was cackling along it was HILARIOUS! Keep being awesome.

    Super fun!
I love everything that Kelly and Lindsay do and this is no exception! Tune it to hear hilarious readings of public domain short stories! The voice acting in particular is on point!

These two women have to be my favorite gals to listen to! They make me laugh and just keep me entertained episode after episode! I hope they are giving us content for years to come.

    Oh My Goo
Highly recommend this podcast, particularly any episode Kelly has done some ridiculous voice and as such everyone has to keep up the same voice. Five stars, would listen to again. I keep sending the link to my bestie and she finally broke down and said she would subscribe. Yay for being annoying to your friends! Anyway, I love this podcast, thank you so much Kelly and Katai!

“Hilarious. Witty. Can’t get enough!” -Abraham Stroker.
I fell into Teen Creeps after a quick mention of the podcast on My Favorite Murder. I was hooked immediately because Lindsay and Kelly make me laugh so hard that I can’t breathe and have to hit pause so I don’t miss what they say next. When PDT was announced I hopped on the train right away and love their witty criticisms and hilarious realization of how messed up some stories can be - looking at you Abraham Stroker. Their podcasts bring me so much joy each week, I can’t get enough!

    Fantastic
Really funny podcast that gives me flashbacks to reading these types of stories in English class, which I’m now realizing may have been assigned because they were free to publish and not because they were literary classics.
