Lou.C.OlsenDisappointedMy wife and I had very high hopes for this show, but the truth is...the alternate stories are not interesting. Love the concept, but the show itself falls flat.

taotanicMoving and poignantLove this podcast! Very moving and emotional accounts of events that occurred the same time as notable tragedies we are all aware of. We ask “where were you when _______ happened?” This goes beyond that and tells a whole story. The music and integration of news clips are well done. I would download the music itself if I could. I really hope for a season 2! Highly recommend

Roadside attractionKUOW is incapable of telling good storiesThe premise of this podcast is lame. You only need a gimmick like this if you can't tell a story without it. Send some you g interns to work with Ira Glass for a year and then let them take over the station.

MLSYogiHeartfelt and InspiringI look for podcasts that are interesting, and and the same time present topics that I would've never known about if I hadn't listened. And, I don't really enjoy the long podcasts of almost an hour. I prefer podcast to be about 20 minutes long. "How's your day?" fits both those criteria perfectly. I'm halfway through the episodes and can honestly say these are terrific. Especially the episode about The day Martin Luther King was assassinated. I was an eight-year-old at the time and I remember the tensions we all felt with the turmoil and sorrow. I think it's sadly similar to how we are all feeling today. The difference is we had the space program to buoy our spirits. And it was John F Kennedy who had the vision for the program. So, it's very close to my heart. But then every episode certainly gets to one's emotions. I'm a little curious about that one very detailed negative review. I don't understand why that person chose to be so cynical. Sometimes we just need something to make us reflect and feel better. Doesn't have to be hugely intellectual, it can just be something that gives some inspiration in trouble times. Peace.

Mortguy83Doesn't stick to its premiseI subscribed to this podcast after hearing about its premise on NPR. I listened to all ten episodes at once. I have got to say that it was barely similar to what was advertised and I am thoroughly unimpressed. A lot of the stories that are supposed to take place on the same day as the more well-known events of the “days we all remember” only happen around the same time frame as the overshadowing or simultaneous event, and not on the very same day as the event. This is somewhat in conflict with the promoted premise. Unfortunately, most of those particular stories are also especially uninteresting. They also do some of the same absolutely awful and annoying things with their audio that Radio Lab does with theirs. Luckily, the How’ Your Day advertising isn’t nearly as condescending as Radio Lab’s. The last story is about Right Whales and how they respond to stimuli produced above the water. This is “contrasted for context” with the terrorist attacks perpetrated on 9/11/2001, but what is described in the main story directly correlates with the USA’s grounding of planes in response to those attacks. This cause and effect story is in complete conflict with what is put forward as the premise of this program. Were the producers too lazy to stick with the program’s format, or did they think we, the audience, would be too stupid to notice that they had gone of the reservation? General ineptitude is certainly another possibility. One should also note that the revelation in the story about the Right Whales is, at best, barely worthy only of a quick mention on the local news on a very slow day. How ironic.

PodcastReviewNicknameEmotional StorytellingThe episodes with strong parallels are doooooooope.
-
morganfitzpBeautifulPure pieces of sonic poetry. Arwen Nicks' knack for helixing parallel narratives bridges remembrance with revelation. Jenn Champion's perfect piano scores rival those of Erik Satie, T.G. Gebrou, or Sonic Youth's "Providence." One of those rare podcasts that's the best thing to hear right before bed.

Keva AWonderful!Absolutely phenomenal storytelling! You really feel like you're sitting there with these people, hearing them share these experiences like an old friend. Their stories give a great new meaning to these days we've experienced together. Personal tragedies don't stop for big world events. Highly recommend this podcast!

mroach72How's Your Day?I listened to the entire season in one session. I loved it! Telling a story from a famous day in history really taps into your emotions and memories. The stories themselves are equally compelling. I look forward to another season.

juarrenChills y'allOh jeez. I fired this up this morning and was not expecting to have the kind of emotional reaction I did. The stories are not only interesting and important, but they unfold in a way you've never heard. More like an intricately woven collage of interviews, overlaping news clips, natual ambiance, all playing off an incredible and haunting musical score. The end result left me with goosebumps and I can't wait to hear the rest.
