JustaGoodGuyMKEFun and inspiring show on TaoismIt took me a while to find this show, but I’m certainly happy that I did. I’ve been studying Taoism for a couple of years, and this is a perfect complementary podcast to my studies. It has a fun side to it in a serious side to it. Although I take my Taoism practice quite seriously, I’ve learned that I need to have fun as well. Thank you Todd and George for teaching me to not take myself so seriously and enjoy the journey.

nathantenney50Best show on Daoism out there!Best show on Daoism out there!

JenagainGreat people, great podcastI struggle with anything supernatural or faith-based after being raised religious, so I’m not sure I’m on board with those aspects of Taoism. However, the practical life lessons are extremely beneficial and I really enjoy Todd, Dr. Totten, and now George breaking down the Tao Te Ching into ways I can understand and apply to my life and those around me. I’ve been listening off and on since 2021 and am really saddened at Dr. Totten’s health, but am encouraged by the support he has gotten from those he touched throughout his life. Thank you Todd for helping him and for bringing the podcast back!

One of TwoWhat’s This Tao All AboutAs a lay Buddhist practitioner, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Tao and Buddhism have similar messages. I find that the more I listen to this podcast, my understanding of both Buddhism and Taoism is increasing. What a great gift! Highly recommend for anyone of any faith tradition or anyone just interested in a different way of looking, feeling, and thinking about this big time ol’ universe we all have the good fortune to experience!

KaiterpillarThis podcast will get you through hard timesI will never forget when I found this podcast. It was during a dark period of struggle in my life, and it really got me through some very difficult feelings. This show was and is a godsend. I am so so saddened to hear of Dr Totton’s ill health. I attribute so much of my wisdom and growth to this show and to Dr Totton. There are no other Tao podcasts like this one. And I have deeply missed having new weekly episodes. Thank you so much Tod for sharing the fundraiser and for updating us.

viewfromthenorthEver desireless I see the mysteries!!Been searching for a spiritual paradigm for a few years now, I love Buddhism and Hinduism but Taoism is the one that’s really stuck thanks to these guys! We were meant to move back to ireland from America (I struggle here) but my wife got denied her visa and that might have sent me spiraling if I hadn’t spent a couple of months listening to this podcast! It has helped me immensely to cope with this life changing news in a positive and effortless way im just going with the flow!l thanks guys!
-
H. HakeGreat learning placeI have read and listened to many podcasts for Taoism. They have influenced me greatly. I yearned for more understanding and came upon this podcast. I m very thankful for the host, Tod Perry and Dr. Totton for practical applications of many Taoism teachings. Thank you!
-
jucinurfloValuable beyond measureFound this podcast and have been listening to it on my walk every morning. Absolute gold!
-
catz4eva33My fav podcast EVERI struggled for years to understand Daoism. This podcast helped me to grasp a solid understanding. I love Dr. Carl Totten and Tod Perry’s energy and lightheartedness. They make Daoism fun and assessable. They have lifted my spirits many times in the past 5 years. I miss the show! I wish Dr Totten healing.

bruenogriPast but not forgottenVery good find

Annoying102938Loved this until…These guys lost me when Dr Carl started claiming to have supernatural powers and and began writing the “new” chapters of the Tao. I found this podcast very helpful up until that point. Then he started sounding like all of the evangelical charlatans of my childhood. I’m not calling him a charlatan himself, but it didn’t sit right. The first five or so episodes are great. Maybe up to 12 even.
-
SesBoogieGreat explanation of TaoismTod and Sijo do a great job of explaining Taoism and the Tao Te Ching....I wish I lived in L.A. so I could go to the Taoist Institute....great podcast for any Taoism enthusiast.
-
MadmanDrewThis podcast could change your life by helping you learn to live it!I’ve been listening to it from the first episode on daily and it’s been such a wonderful thing for my life. I look forward to it every morning. It helps me to focus for my day and to consider my life and how I think about things. It’s been a helpful guide for my journey into Taoism, which has been life-changing. I encourage everyone to give this a listen starting episode 1.

ArtemisJostAmazing Information and positivityI love this podcast. I discovered it a month ago when my dearest friend said I should look into the Tao because it is so “us”. She was right. It was like we were always right on the edge of understanding some things and we have much much more to learn, but this podcast has helped tremendously in pointing me in the right direction. Just bought three of the suggested readings off Amazon, anyone who is curious about Taoism I highly suggest this podcast. Also want to say how infectious the laughter is. I love it.
-
Lil PutterA starting place…A great place to start as you being to follow the Tao!
-
Justin218Used to be a great podcast.Too much opinionated political talk within the last year. Doesn’t seem very Tao to me.
-
F2Ph8rOn my second listenI’m glad somebody put this together because I found Tao Te Ching inspiring, but confusing to put into practice. Dr Totton gives practical tools to apply (putting thoughts in a bubble, meditations) and they have good discussion about the chapters.
-
Wayne nrady111PresentThis show made me realize I can no longer carrot and stick myself into achieving goals. Some good and bad to that, just means I need to live in the present and not delay happiness until I reach point A, B, or whatever. Thank you for helping me be more mindful.
-
Redi_tkI don’t write reviews but...Ever since my friend introduced me to the podcast, I’ve experienced a perspective shift that continues to manifest blessings in my life. I’m so grateful~
-
wombatsoldierA Lot to Offer, but with some Hot AirI’ve listened for years and this is overall a great show, but occasionally (and more often lately), Dr Totton’s ego has been showing up, and he spends some time patting himself on the back, and trying to impress us. Starting to remind me a little of Neil DeGrasse Tyson’s love of himself and attention vs his interest in actually teaching.
-
ggagggagggagWorthwhileWasn’t expecting much since it was one of the only Taoism podcasts to show up, but I’m hooked. Each episode gives much to think about
-
bkula44Exactly what I was looking for!I jumped around a lot when it comes to podcast especially about spirituality. This show really hooked me and kept my interest. Very interesting topics and easy to understand and follow!
-
RTOS 45Excellent showThis show has really helped me weather the last chaotic year in a profoundly deep way. I have felt like I am much closer to being able to ride the wind as lien tzu says thanks to it’s teaching
-
Deb in New YorkThank You.Lost my wife last year and this podcast has been so helpful in my journey forward. Thank you Dr. Carl and Todd. It may not be the “eternal Tao” that you talk about, but I am eternally grateful. 🙏❤️
-
Mustang ErinThe Tao of reviewingThe review that can be told is not the eternal review! I listen to this while hiking and it’s a win-win for spirituality. This podcast has changed how I look at the world and has inspired me with so many insights and gems of wisdom. Thank you so much for putting this together! (Of course it was probably super easy - effortless action!)
-
Christ___Spectacular!Thought provoking, educational, and delightful, this podcast is gold! Thank you so much for providing this content!!!!
-
Rod EclecticInterested showI studied Taoism some 8 years ago. I even worked with the I Ching! Finding this podcast humbles me with nostalgia. They provide an interesting mix of personality. Great work!
-
Kate LasserSuch a wonderful door to TaoismI love this podcast so much, I can binge listen to it for hours. Dr Carl Totton has opened my eyes to the great teachings of the Tao and it’s brought so much peace to my life and has helped me in reaching alignment with my heart, mind and soul. They discuss such a wide variety of topics and it never gets dull! Todd Perry is a great interviewer as well. Thank you so much
-
Tanner6788Great podcastThis is a great, accessible podcast for Taoism, and the only one I’ve found like it. Really great stuff, that’s really helped me grow as a person. Thank y’all for putting this out there!

TheOriginalGlazGood Take on Reality14 billion years - that we can pretty much scientifically prove - and thousands of years of human reason and thought by billions of people throughout history. Yes, I do believe that we may be in over our heads, intellectually, no matter how smart we think we may be. You can’t take ”the truth” too seriously for the few decades that you may be privileged to exist here on this planet. Carl and Tod, thanks for pragmatically working to uncover some of the wisdom and teachings of Taoist philosophy to those of us seeking our own truths, as they may just be as valid as anyone else’s.
-
Xx4coryhAn absolute pleasureThis is one of the few podcasts that I recommend to people.
-
Upset ExmoToo many laughsI really love the teachings and insights that I get from this podcast. It’d be even better though, if it didn’t have so many unnecessary, distracting and sometimes, annoying laughter!
-
NCxNY34So helpful and informativeI just recently started to look into Taoism and I didn’t know where to start. This podcast has been tremendously helpful. Dr Totton does an amazing job of explaining the Tao Te Ching for a complete novice like myself who has a hard time making sense of it all. I am absolutely hooked on the podcast and would highly recommend it for anyone who wants to know more about the Tao.
-
novicetaoistGreat Podcast!I am an avid podcast listener with a relatively recent interest in Taoism. This is probably one of the best, if not the best podcast I have ever listened to. Life changing.
-
Groovin8rThe laughing Taoist.Great podcast. I love the lighthearted approach to explaining Taoism (which is a lighthearted system). My only recommendation would be that the show should have been called “The Laughing Taoist” for how much Dr. Totten laughs! 😊🤣🙏🏻
-
DuckmanDrake69The best podcast I’ve ever listened toWhat’s This Tao All About is truly the best podcast I’ve ever listened to and it’s truly changed my perspective on things greatly. I stumbled upon this podcast from someone on Reddit and gave it a shot. Dr. Carl Totton is one of the wisest people I’ve ever listened to and Tod injects great insight as well as a hearty dose of humor which keeps the show lighthearted and fun. Truly one of a kind show and I recommend everyone give it a play!
-
yeetonemOasis in the desertThis podcast is the water I’ve needed throughout my life where nothing else Has really worked. Funny and introspective perspective on the hard to decipher Tao te Ching. I highly recommend to everyone, but especially those struggling with mental illness. I have bipolar and can live medication free utilizing the wisdom of this ancient text. Thank you so much!!
-
nbelmanGreat!!Have been sliding into Taoism over the past year. Feels sensible, balanced, open. The podcast is the same. A great exploration and admirable explanation of “that which cannot be named.” Feel like I’m hangin with my buds, who happen to know a bunch and are happy to share information and thoughts to help us live in the Tao.
-
Ry120912876/5Incredible.

jbrew013Good but inconsistentLove the show but the output is too inconsistent.
-
a.headExcellentWell organized. Insightful responses. Just the intro i was looking for. But its more than just an intro, it gets deep here.
-
StevenCerratoAmazing show!!!You guys rock!!! I have already learnt so much from listening to this podcast and feel a strong connection to the Tao. When I listen to you guys it brings me right to center, calm and focus. Listening is very soothing. Thanks for the sharing of wisdom Peace and Love
-
junifitzLove it!Wonderful podcast. I’ve been listening on and off for almost two years. It is a beautiful perspective on life and living, and they make it engaging and fun to listen to.
-
Kanawha86Great PodcastI love this podcast. I listen to it every day on my commute to work. I live in the (rural) South, so these concepts are not easy to come by. It was cool to learn that Tod’s father is from West Virginia. That is where I am from originally.
-
Budding Taoist TJWhat’s This Tao All AboutI found this podcast 57 days ago. Prior to that I had done a daily Tao exercise for some time and wanted something a little different. Boy did this show give me that! I’ve listened to one show a day ever since, and was a little panicked upon realizing today was the 57th and last one, at least for awhile. It’s been wonderful listening to Sijo and Tod every day while unleashing some creative energy doodling among my notes and copied chapters or portions of chapters of the Tao Te Ching. There have been many recommendations for continued reading along with some terrific exercises which have been tremendously helpful on this journey along the great way. Thanks Sijo Carl & Tod! Now when will the next episode(s) drop?!!
-
BusinessJamBest podcastI love this podcast. Tod and Dr. Totten are excellent hosts, bringing enthusiasm, wisdom, and love to every episode. They never run out of new and interesting ways to talk about Taoism. I appreciate their advice for how to put Taoist beliefs into practice.
-
TD FHI Needed This!Thank you for bringing the Tao to our ears via podcast. This has been of great value to me. I’ve been going through some struggles and being able to tap into Tao while working has been a wonderful gift. Keep on!
-
mwebb91Greeting!Love this podcast!
-
Wandering_RoninHighly recommended!I regularly listen to about two dozen different podcasts, and this one has now made my permanent rotation. Sijo Totton’s laugh is infectious and his wisdom is as deep as it is humorous. Tod makes for a great interviewer and asks all the right questions. I live in LA and hope to meet and study with Sijo Totton one day.
