After listening to many monks over a 5 year period attempting to understand Buddhism and meditation Sokuzan has resonated with my practice most powerfully. It took me about a month of daily listening to understand his perspective but once the light bulb went off a new door opened in my journey. Straight forward, practical, and without pretense. Sit down, hold still, and train your mind. He does not sugar coat the practice. I find his teaching style to be more of a tough love approach than a “feel good monk” but not oppressive in any manor. I especially like his discussion of spiritual materialism. Highly recommend!

I love Sokuzan and his Dharma talks, wish there were more talks up. Fantastic teacher, funny, smart.
