Walk the CinemaIncredible! This review is for Talking Soundtracks, specifically the Steve C. Smith interview episodes. Amazing production value with particularly good editing. The interview was super interesting and sounded great. The hosts voice is so hypnotic I could listen to him all day. This is a great project and you should definitely give it a listen. Really big variety is a definite plus.
-
DMLockeGreat show!Fantastic podcast. Great selections and I really appreciate how brutally honest Erik is with his take on some of his less favorite soundtracks.
-
TeenwriterAmazingI love soundtracks, have for years, and this podcast has made me appreciate them even more. High quality and lots of variety.
-
Guy in ncWonderfulI just finished listening to Waterworld (also a favorite) and wow, what great depth and insight on the music, the movie and the composer. Will definitely be listening to more.
-
Notabot1234567890On the air since 1996, and it shows!Mr Woods' professionalism and complete lack of snobbery elevates the show to one of the absolute best podcasts for orchestral score-lovers. Cinematic Sounds does not let even the most obscure mediums or unappreciated movies fly under the radar if there's a good score behind them; all pieces featured get the same professional yet sincere treatment. The show is informative, but never to the point of being excessively chatty. Great for finding new orchestral composers and even the occasional underrated movie and game.
-
Jamesivan24The best film music showCinematic Sound Radio is the best show about film music. As a major fan and supporter of this genre I have learned much from this shows. The quality is always top-notch. Even life-long soundtrack fans will find new gems to enjoy from this rich archive presenting highlights from every genre and style. The decades of shows will never leave you lacking for new material to enjoy. Each score is introduced with a comprehensive information about its development, composition, history, impact, and legacy. This show is for those who want a casual listening experience, audiophiles wishing to enrich their music selections, and soundtrack enthusiasts wanting to gain a new perspective on favorite scores.
-
YeongcheonStarThe best score podcastErik does a fantastic job creating the music suites, and provides just enough information without upstaging the music. Whether you’re a new or long-time score fan, every episode of Cinematic Sound Radio is a delight.
-
DiseaseMaker981Educational and Music to my EarsI originally discovered this podcast from watching Erik’s Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction “music video” (a fantastic theme, video and performance). This podcast is just enlightening; I’ve had my favorite film musics over the year but wouldn’t consider myself deeply versed. This podcast has opened my ears to so much! I enjoy all the shows. I love the interviews, the obscure scores; just appreciating musical talent!
-
Brettster57Thoughtful and InsightfulI truly enjoy listening to this podcast. I am a film music collector and enthusiast. I think the show is very thoughtful and insightful on how Erik presents the film music for our listening pleasure. I have discovered new music that I probably would have not known about if it were not for this show. Keep up the fantastic quality, you’ve gained a fan here in Memphis, TN. James Brett French

BibliomikeWouldn't be Halloween without CSM!Erik Woods' 2018 Cinematic Sound Radio Halloween special is just one example of what makes his show great at any and all times: expertly curated selections from fascinating film scores, held together by Erik's knowledgeable (and often amusing) insights and commentary. Erik's Halloween shows are among his best. So glad he is back with new episodes - his podcast is a MUST for film music enthusiasts, since Erik never shies away from letting his own enthusiasm shine through!

Masque ArrayedGood show but could use more researchI struggled with this review for a bit but wanted to leave feedback. I really like the show for its breadth and originality, and for both keeping me a bit more up to date on recent releases. The archival shows are also very good. Some of the special themes are great, and the production values are topnotch. (Erik has a voice born for radio. Seriously.) My main criticism is with pronunciation of composers' names, as well as outright errors and lack of details. The recent Harryhausen music show, for example, completely ignores 'Beast from 20,000 Fathoms' and 'Mighty Joe Young' and other musical endeavors that could have used a bit more attention. Instead we got way too much of Roy Budd's 'Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger.' But the errors....composer Gerald Moross? Who? (It's Jerome.) Actor Roy Snyder (it's Scheider). This comes off as nitpicky, I'm sure, but there's no good reason for such egregious errors.

filmscoregirl13A Wonderful Way to Enjoy and Discover Great Film MusicA wonderful podcast with a lot of heart. Erik does a great job of sharing interesting facts or tidbits about scores (and the films that they are attached to) and showcasing truly great (and even rare) selections of film music. It's a treat to discover music through his educational and heartfelt approach to the sharing of film music!
-
laswfanWonderful ShowI've been listeing to this show for years, and it is both entertaining and educational. I've discovered to many scores and composers I might never have heard of, if it wasn't for this program. Erik's knowledge is very extensive. He also includes a lot of unreleased material, which can be very interesting, and sometimes hard to find (or even know about). If you are into film, TV and/or video game music, I could not recommend this Podcast any higher.
-
krissbethThe O.G. of film music podcastsSimply put, this podcast is the best longform film music program out there. If you want to stay on top of the best scores and even be introduced to something new, Cinematic Sound Radio is the way to go. This labor of love has been on the scene since 1996 and it's STILL an excellent listen.
-
jeffreydkernOne of the Best, if Not the Best, Podcast Covering Film MusicErik Woods, the man who runs Cinematic Sound Radio has been broadcasting his show for over 20 years and his success is so well-deserved. Cinematic Sound Radio delivers a passionate, well-informed, and absolutely entertaining and educational podcast that delights. Erik's knowledge on the subject of film, tv, and videogame music seems endless. I have played many of his podcasts going back into his catalog and each and every one of them is truly exceptional.
-
MovieScoreFanFantastic podcastIf you love music written for movies you’ll enjoy this podcast.
-
DustysonofmikeMore music than mostI appreciate how instead of blathering on with angry analyses, this podcast gets straight to the music.
-
Scott625Great showA must-have for fans of film music. Erik does a great job of bringing in not only the big soundtracks that eberybody's going to be seeing the films of which they're part, but the smaller, less-well known scores, some of which are absilute gems. The whole show is done with an obvious love for the film music genre. if you like movie scores, this is definitely a podcast you need to add to your queue.
-
emkayluckJust what I've been looking forFor years I've been lamenting the trend of film scores lately, and missed the discovery of enjoying a good score on its own. This podcast is perfect for finding new and old scores, and organized in such an appreciative way. I only discovered the show yesterday and immediately launched into the 3-part end title cue playlist. I'm constantly being blown away at great tracks from scores I've overlooked or missed out on for years. I'm so excited to have new scores and tracks to add to my library!
-
andy-matorWish I'd discovered this sooner!Great podcast! Wish I'd discovered this YEARS ago (but now it's nice that I can go through and catch up on them)--lots of great scores featured, generous selections of the songs instead of snippets. (It also helps that I agree with a lot of his favorite songs/scores!) Highly recommeneded.
-
Rey's FatherA must for any film score fan!I've been listening to this podcast for years and I love it. I highly recommend it for any fan of film scores. The episodes keep you up to date with the latest soundtracks and the commentary is knowledgeable, passionate, and insightful.

JvizcarraFantastic selections and great presentationErik does a great job of exposing interesting versions of classic themes we're all familiar with. The shows are chock full of great tidbits of information and - most of all - fantastic music.
-
isaacada1Go To Soundtrack ListeningErik's passion & love for the medium of music in film bursts forth with every listening. One of top podcasts I look forward to listening to each time a new episode is released.

Mormon PaleoSimply the BestErik Woods' podcast is simply the best podcast reviewing film and video game scores out there. Excellent editing, great radio voice, a warm vibe, and great snippets of the latest and greatest film and video game scores. He does a great job integrating some of the older stuff as well and consistently shows a sincere interest in providing a podcast that his listening audience will appreciate. Cinematic Sound Radio can appeal to the layman as well as those with more experience in the genre. The recent documentaries on James Horner and John Williams are excellent. I would venture to say that those are two of the best radio documentaries on music I have heard. The quantity and consistency of the podcast alone is a monumental achievement, and the high quality with which this is produced adds even more to it. Well done, Erik. I look forward to many more excellent episodes.

President TylerTop Notch!A VERY professional production with great music and commentary every week!!

Rigarnian SeigeFantastic Podcast!I love your show every single week, I enjoy listening to you through my car and even over my headphones. Each soundtrack that you list or even play, I try to add it to my list of scores that I want to own. Your 20th Anniversary show was absolutely amazing. Here is to another 20 years. You deserve it!

RomartelFilm Music Radio at its bestCinematic Sound Radio is one of the best shows of its kind. Erik Woods plays a wide variety of film music spanning the decades and multiple countries. Often he fashions suites built from multiple cues to provide an excellent summation of the score. In addition Woods is well versed in the medium and often provides interesting facts and history about the films, the music and the composers. This is a great show for those just discovering film music, and old hands who will find the suites and re-recordings a real treat. The show typically clocks in at two hours, but Erik’s selections and framing help time fly. But he’s also been experimenting with shorter shows clocking in at a little over an hour, perfect for lunchtime listening. All in all I can easily recommend this show and look forward to each new episode.
-
Starranger7A high quality showThe quality of the show and the amazing music from movie, TV, Games soundtracks is a joy to listen too. The Host Erik Woods as a new dimension to each selection. -
AlVBrownGreat Show for Film Score Fans!I really enjoy the show and look forward to listening to it every week. I appreciate hearing the passion that goes into introducing the various suites w/o being afraid to critique the music. You may even discover a film score that you wouldn't have otherwise. A great listen!
-
SMRTALECFilm Score Afficiandos Rejoice!I was sort of disappointed when I started to discover film score podcasts because I felt like nobody had a solid format or voice or sense of passion in talking about the medium. Then I discovered Erik Woods via Tracksounds. Cinematic Sound Radio has been on the air and on the web since the 1990s? Where the hell have I been?! Film scores are my #1 jam and have been since I was a teenager. This podcast is a special treat to my heart. Not only does it cover current film score news but the host is constantly throwing undiscovered treasures at me by way of film score historical antecdotes and playing music I'd never heard before. Fantastic podcast. If you love film scores then you must listen to this podcast. You'll need your fix of this as much as I do now.
-
nashrocks13Amazing Music SelectionsLove this show. The best part is Erik is able to share many unreleased soundtrack cues that you can't hear anywhere else. The selections are nearly always awesome, so it makes for great listening. Thrilled it's finally on iTunes.

-
cgraneroExcellent Film Music PodcastFans of film music need look no further than this podcast for the best variety of great film music, past and present. Erik Woods's knowledge of film music from the golden age up to the most current scores being written across the world is nearly unparalleled. I cannot recommend the show highly enough!
-
Real person, fake nicknameFantastic show! Each week, Erik introduces me to music old and new. Sometimes, I don't have time to check out every new score release, and hearing his (well-arranged) suites from new albums helps me determine what's worth checking out. He plays great music, and he has a tremendous voice that's perfect for a radio show.
-
Will DodsonAn absolute must have show for film music fans...finally on iTunes!I'm here to testify about the incredible Cinematic Sound Radio program, and it's host and creator - Erik Woods. This show has been delivering incredible content for years, and Erik is really the Godfather of us film music pundits. From the incredible selections, to the fascinating insight, incredible production value, as well as Erik's abilities as a host, this is the show you've been looking for if you're a film music fan. I'd honestly give it 10 stars if I could... -Will Dodson || Sideshow Sound Radio
