12imThe GOAT of running podcastQuality over quantity. Waiting a few days or weeks for this podcast is well worth it. Let the anticipation build while hammering away some miles.
-
Tuco_el_FeoWhat a giftI love the content, care and messaging of the the AM Shakeout!
-
jordanwestonrunsOne of the best!Inspiring, practical, and accessible for all runners at various levels. I’ll be coming back to this podcast time and again for help as I continue to progress as a runner.

RunGrl57Jennifer Baskerville-BurrowsWOW!!! I’ve know Jennifer for years and she is my DEAREST friend! I went to her ceremony when she was made Bishop. She’s one of the sweetest, knowledgeable, person I know. She is a lover of people, community, inclusivity for all. Hooked me into running Ragnar a few years back <lol>. I can’t wait to hear Pt. 2 of this interview.

Cayo NationAwesome stuff Mario!Love the style and tempo of these discussions…especially enjoy the Ken Rideout episodes!!
-
jackola45Great format shift for the podcastI really enjoy the recent format shift the show has taken. Fewer, higher quality, more interesting episodes is much more enjoyable for the listener. More shows could take a cue from the Morning Shakeout and learn that more shows does not equate to better programming.
-
CLTradGreat podcastReally enjoy your episodes and appreciate the guests and perspectives.
-
J. MederosThank youI look forward to each new episode that comes out. Great podcast!

Dailey CommentaryShake it out with MarioMario is a wonderfully interviewer. His most recent conversation with Jake Wrightman was great. I was team Jacob buy this conversation made me a fan of Jake as well. Thanks Mario for all you do to promote the greatest sport in the world.

Mark from NMMaster InterviewerListening to these conversations is a graduate course in interviewing. I’ve never heard anyone do it better than Mr. Fraioli. No matter the conversation, he gets deep and beyond the low hanging fruit. His questions result in vulnerable and meaningful conversations which often go far beyond the running sphere. This is my favorite podcast.

Lauren HarnickAmazing journalistI am so glad I found out about Mario from listening to another podcast. Mario has an incredible talent for bringing out people’s stories and shedding light on all the little things that really matter most. It is rare to find such an open minded journalist and I look forward to listening to him and his guests every week.
-
ceiderannPhenomenal ConversationsI’ve been listening for a few years now (sorry I didn’t review sooner, Mario! 😬) and I LOVE this podcast. Mario is truly an amazing host and has amazing conversations with some incredible people. I just finished his interview with Tommy Rivs and there aren’t many words for it. I don’t always know his guests by name but I listen and every conversation is awesome. Definitely recommend!

jayayayrayayayBest Running Podcast Out ThereMario is a fantastic interviewer. He asks great questions and always lets the guest take the lead with the conversations. If I could only listen to one running podcast it would be this one!

pierrej 1234Best thing to listen to on long runsThese interviews are really amazing, and I absolutely love listening to them on my long runs. Obviously it’s also great to listen to when you’re at home or commuting, or anything else! The following was written in my initial review but doesn’t apply anymore based on recent guests, i left just in case: > The only thing I’d like to see is more interviews with “regular” people. It’s obviously amazing to listen to sub 2:30 marathoners and pro athletes but I feel like sometimes I’d like to listen to people who are more “normal”, I’m sure that there are tons of amazing people who are not pro athletes and who run a little bit slower. That being said, it’s not criticism, just a personal preference!
-
C3piccoMy favorite running podcastGreat interviews, and Mario is a great interviewer. Not too sugary/cheesy, and not too long winded himself, he asks good questions concisely of his guests and let them do the rest.
-
kselimovBest pod everI’m shocked this doesn’t have more reviews! This pod always gets in deep in convos in the best way and has opened my eyes to many different parts of the running community! If I could only listen to one pod forever this might be it
-
Annie Banannie 40Thought provoking and interesting!I always look forward to this podcast coming out every week. It ties in with my interests in running and mental health/sports psychology

Runner LynnExcellent podcastExcellent podcast. Great job!
-
MNrunner88Effective interviewerMario is very knowledgeable and has an easy way of helping people tell their stories. I just wish he would change out the depressing music at the beginning!

fpoonlineAppreciate the mature tone, sincerityI especially like the episodes in which Mario’s guests go “under the hood” and get real about how their running integrates with their values and living a life of integrity. Some favorites are the episodes with Yassine Diboun, Mike Smith, Katie Arnold, and Dinée Dorame. I sometimes wish the interviews felt less constrained by the “question/answer” format and could unfold in a more converstional flow and perhaps get a bit spicier, but that’s not the vibe here. Mario’s tone is unfailingly respectful, mature, and even-handed, which I truly appreciate. I almost always come away with something to chew on and apply to my own running or life in general.
-
utahrunningchrisBest PodI love the depth of this podcast. Every week Mario brings something different to the table and I always find myself thinking about the topics discussed as I go through the rest of my week. Each episode makes me laugh and reflect in turn. A definite go-to pod.

mario great, podcast goodSolid discussions, but mostly fluffMario is a great conversationalist and can attract fascinating guests. However, most of the time the questions do not lead to interesting insights. For example, people will complain about the state of track and field but are never pressed to actually discuss solutions. Or people will complain about doping in the sport but not asked how to balance that with mechanical doping and access to a higher quality life in the Western world. Listen to the show for entertainment, but not for insights. Mario also treats his friends with kid gloves. Just recently had a doper on his show and let her off the hook. He wouldn’t do that to others. And he definitely wouldn’t do it if she was a person of color.

ShoresyPuppersI hope other episodes are less boring than 157So I found this podcast doing a Google search. I've been listening to Rich Roll but lately his podcasts have had too much talking over his guests and then steering the conversation back to himself. I randomly put Episode 157 onto my Garmin 245 and went for a run. My God was this hard to listen to! The most time that Mario spent on a given subject was about how he makes his podcasts. This was about as interesting as a book about writer's block, a move about Hollywood, a song about writing a song. You get the picture. Tomorrow I will download whatever the "latest" 'cast is and hope for a better outcome. I will, however have more on my Garmin just in case.

jbird8888Hillary Allen Interview #10 for the last two weeks?Don’t get me wrong, Hillary is wonderful, but really... I am legitimately overwhelmed with the number of podcast interviews she has done in the last week or two, it’s truly a bit ridiculous. Don’t be at the end of such a long, repetitive line of ANY athlete going over the top on interviews... it’s lame. She must have got some bad advice from an agent, but perhaps you should have also checked on how many interviews your guests have done recently to avoid such a situation. I honestly don’t have it in me to download and listen to yours, and that’s unfortunate.

LisaMarie711Super interviews & perspectiveMario is a great host with insightful questions & good mix of guests. Super good stuff!

This podcast from its inception to its current state has never ceased to bring some incredible diversity and diversity of thought to the running community. Thank you for your knowledge Mario! The running community is a better place for it.

Seans426Nathan Martin InterviewThis episode was exceptional, covering so much of Nathan’s running, training, racing approach and even personal events in his life and how they have shaped who he is and his running career. Mario is a very good interviewer and only gets better as time goes on. Excellent show - thank you!
-

mtkosBest running podcastI’ve been a listener of the the morning shakeout from the beginning. Mario is an outstanding interviewer, and his guests are wide ranging and interesting. Even if you’re not into running, he touches upon so many important general life/sport themes. I binge episodes while cooking! He has a great newsletter too by the same name. I genuinely look forward to getting it on Tuesday morning and read it while scarfing a pre-workout snack every Tuesday morning. Gives me the motivation to get going!!
-
Scott0025Insightful and Engaging InterviewsThis is my favorite running podcast because of how Mario asks hard-hitting and meaningful questions. He is a great reporter and interviewer of high level elite athletes and coaches. His candor is unique and engages the athletes to have honest and insightful responses rarely found on podcasts.
-
FormerListener2000Insightful ConversationsMario is an excellent conversationalist, and he’s clearly always looking to grow and improve as a podcaster, interviewer, and human addressing social issues that impact running/sports. The guest lineup is amazing, and every episode gets to the heart of their stories. Well worth a listen! This is one of the best running-centric podcasts out there.
-
Lenny AltaverdeInsightful Questions, Great ConversationsMario comes prepared and ready to have an actual discussion! Many stick with safe topics but Mario is a tour de force when it comes to diving deeper and excavating the hidden meanings behind the answers we tend to give.

beardedJourneyRunnerIn the knowMario has a good background of giving you great journalism, and showcasing the journey these runners have been on. From the Elite, down to the ones getting into the sport, he can captivate the real ness of everyday life and running.
-
mro680Great, well-prepared interviewerI listen to a lot of running, cycling and rowing podcasts. The host absolutely makes the difference between a consistently good show and a sometimes cringe-worthy show Mario asks really good questions, listens and follows up and lets the guests answer without interrupting. Seems simple but too rare in my experience. I’m not a serious runner but I still love the show. Well worth the time no matter your level.
-
SteadyPGreat show and newsletter!Ryan Pace
