Maybe God

413

Hosted by skeptic-at-heart Eric Huffman of The Story Church, Maybe God tackles the toughest topics related to faith - from doubts of Biblical proportions, sexuality, near-death experiences, shame, and so much more. Eric invites best-selling authors, psychiatrists, scientists, renowned Christian apologists, artists, atheists, and ordinary people in extraordinary situations to address the questions we all have about life, meaning, and the purpose for our existence. Through powerful storytelling and real vulnerability, he pushes as hard against religion as he does against secularism in search of the only thing that matters: truth.

    The hard questions
I’m so grateful to this podcast for boldly providing a forum for Christians and skeptics to ask the hard questions. If Christianity is true, there should be no question that is out of bounds. That is the spirit in which this podcast proceeds. Many tough and contemporary topics have been immensely clarified for me in these interviews and sermons. Thank you so much for this ministry.🙏🏽

As a life long church goer, I appreciate Eric’s willingness to listen to so many different perspectives. Stories I wouldn’t have heard on another platform that have helped build faith and filled my heart. Thank you!

    So good
This is my current favorite podcast. The only negative I have is that I wish they had a new episode every day! Thank you for tacking all the hard topics with such love, grace and Biblical truth. I didn’t know that was possible but you are doing it, so thank you!!! So good.

I love the topics and the honesty in which they are spoken about.

    Not traditional
I was pretty excited to listen about a year ago when I first found this podcast, now not so much. I feel its catering more to millennials and maybe deconstructionism. Tim Keller is the real deal. Listen to him if you want the Bible and thoughtful learned grounding in Christianity.

    A breath of fresh air…

    Honest and Intriguing Conversations
10/10 recommend. I’m not a skeptic of the Christian faith, but my legal education made me skeptical of most people and public/mainstream opinions. The main reason I love this podcast (out of MANY reasons) is the Maybe God Team’s willingness to address difficult and controversial topics while maintaining the Scriptures as the standard for how Christians should analyze and respond to different worldviews and social issues.

    Captivated!
I am so glad to have found this podcast! I have been binge listening to the older episodes the past two weeks. While I may not fully agree with the host and/or guests in certain areas, the conversations have been fascinating and thought provoking. The conversation with Cam and the Catfish episode are two of my favorite. May God continue to richly bless you and your ministry!

    How DID I get HERE?
Eric is currently speaking at an event in Tupelo, MS sponsored by the Orchard Tupelo. I’m a “away” , member who worships with my church family through virtual media. Watching Eric’s sermons from Sunday night and then Monday night, and his profession of his great “faux pas”? about STATE vs OLE MISS made me laugh out loud (as I could just SEE Bryan’s face) … but beyond that this “real, willing to share his own life’s ups & downs WITH GOD man” made me want to hear MORE! So, in addition to Orchard sermons, learning more through The Bible Recap, D-group and Bible project plans, this podcast is enriching deeper thought and a deeper relationship with our loving God and although this is my FIRST one, it will not be my last! Mind you, I’m a 72 year old woman who has heard, studied, read most of my life…. This is mind opening stuff! Thank you, Eric for mentioning this podcast… you may never know who all God is directing you to reach! YAY JESUS! If you listen to ONE, you will want MORE! —Jan—

    Wonderful approach!
I love listening. I appreciate the difficult questions your podcast asks. God is not afraid of our questions.

    Outstanding — thoughtful, intelligent, real
The range of topics covered in this podcast is impressive, but it all comes down to this: who is Jesus in real life? No subject is off limits and many are deeply explored, at least within these confined. Excellent podcast!

    Refreshing and encouraging
I recently read Eric Huffman‘s book “Scripture and the Skeptic” and truly appreciate him sharing his story about his journey from faith to faith. We need more voices of faith and reason these days to proclaim Jesus Christ crucified and risen, so that Christians can be educated and encouraged to have loving conversations with their neighbor. I came late to the podcast here, but have made it a regular part of my week.

    Life changing, faith increasing
Very rarely make it though an episode with dry eyes. Don’t live on without listening to the two episodes on near death experiences and “Can Loving Illegals Save Our Souls.” They’ll change your life.

Honest conversation, bold topics, and quality production
I love the Maybe God podcast. I’ve introduced it to others and we consume it episode by episode. It’s great having healthy discussions about biblical topics from multiple perspectives. I love the storytelling and I can’t say enough about the production value. Everything is done so well, from the interviews, the music, and even... the dramatic pauses. Great job Maybe God team! Thank you for your hard work. It’s making an impact in my life and I love discussing it with others.

    Amazing Info
Thankful to have Eric ask the hard questions we all struggle with to understand. His interview regarding the historic Palestinian & Israeli fighting was insightful and educational too in order to gain a true understanding of both sides.

    God is good!
So incredibly grateful for this podcast. It is a fantastic place to start if you’re just beginning to wonder about Jesus and the Bible and who God really is. It’s also a great place to land when you’re already strong in your faith and want to dig deeper - or anywhere in between. Eric and his team do a beautiful job of bringing a diverse group of people to the table to help us all understand God’s goodness and faithfulness in the past and the present and how putting our faith in Him will change your world for eternity. Thanks be to God!

I am a retired UM pastor who at one time struggled with my faith as you did and continue too. Our son recently admitted that he’s not a Christian. I have found your book & podcasts to be very helpful!

    Atheist turning back
I am not a writer so bear with me. I started listening to Maybe God podcast a year and a half ago . I was searching because I had totally lost a belief in God even after being raised in a strong Christian home. For years I hid my ugly truth of being an atheist. Eric Huffman and his team spearhead taboo issues along with atheism in their podcast and with Eric’s book ‘40 Days of Doubt’. I am now a believer again. Oh I still have my dark place of doubt but I am able to see the truth through Maybe God. Thank you Maybe God team!

    Great For Everyone
This podcast is absolutely riveting and is appropriate for believers and non believers. Eric Hoffman narrates each episode and his voice is strong and soothing - his compassion and care is felt right to the core. If you are looking for a real podcast that addresses important and sometimes hard to tackle issues, this is the one. You’ll never look back.

    My daily bread
This podcast keeps me going EVERY DAY. There’s real talk by Eric and his guests that keeps me on my path to seeking a personal relationship with God.

    Compelling, entertaining, honest
First of all, this podcast is very high quality and entertaining. It’s enjoyable to listen to. But, more importantly, the content is incredible. This podcast looks at relevant, real word topics and uses critical thinking, logical reasoning, and powerful personal experience when considering the existence of God and a Christian answer to big questions. It encourages doubts and questions and the investigation that these questions spur. This is an interesting and worthwhile podcast for anyone - regardless of their religious beliefs or doubts. I highly, HIGHLY recommend listening to these. If you’re going to listen to only one podcast, this would be the one to pick.

    Nope.
I really wanted to like this podcast. I was searching for a faith based podcast for some guidance. This wasn’t it. The Bart Campolo episode did it for me. Bart was making more sense than Eric and Eric was a complete bully. At least I found Bart’s podcast through listening.

Best podcast episode on race yet!
“Is God Colorblind?” is a powerful examination of the race issues plaguing our country from so many perspectives, including those that support the police. I highly recommend it!

    Incredible
I listen to a lot of podcasts and this one always blows me away with the thoughtful discussions, interviews, and content. It tackles difficult subjects with sincerity and compassion. If only our entire national discourse were like this! The production quality is top notch too. Whether you are a person of faith or not this is definitely worth your time and attention. Subscribe! Listen! Discuss! And remember, the tomb is empty and Jesus loves you!

    Embracing tension
This podcast combines the power of asking deep questions with the real human story. Instead of staying at a distance with just fact or idea, “Maybe God” looks at tension and weaves it masterfully with real, compelling stories from real, beautiful people ~ taking it from head, to heart. I am so thankful for the way this podcast has challenged me, helped me see outside of my paradigm, and if I’m honest, oftentimes left me in tears.

    So moving, so real.
This is truly one of the best podcasts - they approach some of the more difficult topics in our culture, with reason, and heart. As a Christian myself, they have approached things in ways that have impacted me on a pretty deep level. Go listen. Allow yourself to believe, even if you don't want to.

    I’m hooked.
These podcasts are so powerful, provocative, honest, and at times, raw, but also so enriching for followers of Jesus. But what’s so amazing is that the material is presented in such a way as to appeal (in my opinion) to those that don’t yet know Jesus. Thank you, Eric and Julie. I’m almost caught up, and I hope there are more soon!
  • Jzlkdzmom

I’ve never shared a podcast this much...
I consistently find myself sharing the episodes with friends, bringing it up to new acquaintances, and forcefully reminding my best pals with a “don’t wait another day!! Listen now!!” Maybe God fearlessly speaks truth & grace to the doubts or confusion we’ve all had at some point. This is podcast is transformational. Eric, Julie, and guests... THANK YOU. Even as an avid podcast listener, I can confidently say Maybe God tops my list of favorites.
