    Fact checking BADLY needed
The episode on the EOs is really one of the most ridiculous pieces I’ve heard on the transition. So poorly researched. Both the D and the R seem completely unaware of the ramifications and are blatantly incorrect. For example, that’s not how impoundment works. And the supposed pause is not 90 days. Do your research!!!!

    Not honest dialogue
Hard to listen to a conservative viewpoint that doesn’t believe in climate change and is actively working to hinder the energy transition. I think listening to both sides is important when both sides are honest about coming up with solutions. Unfortunately this fails to achieve that.

    How do we overcome disinformation?
How can we find common ground with people bombarded with so much disinformation? Trump has spent the better part of the last ten years undermining our scientists, medical professionals, journalists, teachers, our justice department and courts. He has lied incessantly. And now no one believes anything, and there are no agreed upon facts for anyone to find common ground. And in this free for all, where everyone just believes what they want to believe, Trump puts up an incomprehensible front, and everyone sees in it what they want to see (e.g., the election is rigged unless I win). And behind all the smoke and mirrors, greed tightens its stranglehold, bigotry is empowered, and health and safety is endangered.

    No thanks
Great to hear that the overly confident Republican rolled their eyes at the suffering and, in many cases deaths, of people living in environmental justice communities, with the host doing absolutely nothing about it.

Giving the republican pundit a pass
It’s so sad that no matter where we go for political informed opinion and hopefully fact based reporting we run into bipartisan panels not unlike this one that give a pass to the republican who uses disinformation, negative vibe rhetoric and “the other side does it too so why are you picking on trump” nonsense. There needs to pushback on Emily’s nonsense rather than allowing her the last word. Her lies of omission and just downright lies, dismissive language and middling rhetoric left unchecked do a disservice to the truthful hosts.

    Love the new host!
I’m loving that Emily joined the show! I’m a big government liberal and appreciate hearing the perspectives from someone with a very different world view. I look forward to using these conversations to get a sense of how an influential person on the right thinks about climate and what arguments and approaches will be most likely to win their support.

    Different perspective
For those following climate related developments in the US, this podcast offers a much needed perspective.

    Smart and joyful takes
Love the fun banter interspersed with thoughtful insights from this crew - their show really covers the waterfront for climate politics, tech innovation, and sustainable business trends. Really draws you in, and it’s paced well.

Just the podcast I was looking for
So great to find a podcast that covers recent news and how it impacts past, current and proposed climate legislation. I look forward to every new episode. One tweak that would be worth making is for better prepared hard hitting questions for their guests. The hosts more often than not let guests talk about whatever they want, rather than steering in the conversation in the most valuable direction.

    Brandon’s gotta chill
Both Democratic (like me) and Republican voters listen to this show because they want to hear civil discussions related to climate change and have hope for a path forward. On a few recent episodes it has seemed that Brandon cares more about scoring petty insults on conservative guests than actually advancing the conversation in a productive way. If he can’t be civil he shouldn’t be on the show. I’m sure there are plenty of others who could fill his seat from the left side of the aisle.

    Highly recommend
A truly bipartisan, open minded conversation around climate - I recommend this show all time to anyone looking to expand their understanding of ‘the other side’ and how we can provide unified support to climate solutions.

    Bipartisan and climate? A dream
I can’t say enough how much I enjoy and appreciate this podcast. It’s definitely my favorite! I have been working in the solar industry for nearly 15 years and had given up hope that republicans care about science and climate. This podcast has shown me that that vision is flat out wrong (for the select few) and really opened my eyes to how the other side would approach climate. Really refreshing. Thank you all so much for putting this together!!

    Trending away from bipartisanship
Was really disappointed it the most recent episode with Benji Backer. Brandon’s tone was hostile, rude, and dismissive. I haven’t heard this podcast treat a guest as badly as it did in this episode. If the podcast/Julia is going to allow guests to be treated this way, especially when the conversation was trying to highlight recent bipartisan successes, you can no longer tout yourselves as a bipartisan platform

Likely the most important subject we could be discussing
Well curated, smart, diverse and no softballs.

    Incredibly entertaining and informative show!
This show has an excellent format and it’s three bi-partisan hosts are great. I love getting Julia’s, Shane's, and Brandon’s perspectives every week on critical climate stories. Also, very impressed with the mini-spinoffs, like “Build Back Better” and “Ditched” that Julia keeps rolling out! As a life long Republican (definitely not this current or last few cycles though) from Texas, I am encouraged that there are still voices of sanity holding down the fort of true, conservative, conservation principles in this moment of psychosis for our party. Again, excellent show! Keep it going!!

    Great Energy/Climate Podcast
I’ve learned a lot from Political Climate. Julia Pyper and Brandon Hurlbut are 2 of the smartest people in the climate movement and are full of great insights. Shane Skelton seems like a good guy, and he’s gotten noticeably smarter since Season 1. I also really respect that he’s one of the only Republican voices who is willing to publicly engage in nuanced climate conversations. Consistently great guests.

Thoughtful perspectives from both left & right on climate, policy, & energy
The best, most thoughtful podcast on the intersection of energy, state/federal policy, and climate. I’ve listened for years and can attest to the quality of hosts and guests. I particularly appreciate that this show features input from both left and right perspectives, which really sets it apart from other shows.

    Fantastic Podcast!
Fresh perspectives from both sides coming together around important environmental issues. We need more podcasts like Political Climate!!

    A stellar environmental podcast
I love the bipartisan nature of this podcast. Found it because they were on the Nori Reversing Climate Change podcast. Good balanced debate, really thinking about issues and respect. I feel like all three speakers really listen to each other and their guests. I really really appreciate that. A total win!
  • ccshatz
    Bipartisan, yes!
Desperately needed balance equals solutions we can actually envision being implemented.

    Dynamic and Informative Show
I’m hooked, after listening to just one or two episodes. The hosts are invested in speakers and programming that are high-quality and timely, and they work well together to produce interesting conversation. Even if you know little to nothing about energy and environmental issues, I recommend that you subscribe and take in the content!

    Amazing show
I am so grateful to this show for keeping me informed about climate issues! As a climate activist I really appreciate the timely info weekly! Thank you!

    Good podcast with different perspectives
This podcast is a great way to stay up to date with what is happening in the overlap between climate/energy and US politics. By having a variety of perspectives on the show (many of which I disagree with), Political Climate discusses and analyzes what motivates different actors in the political sphere and in the climate and energy space. Ultimately, engaging with these different actors, many of which outside of the environmental movement, is necessary to build the consensus for decisive action on climate in the US. In my opinion, Political Climate helps contribute to this societal consensus-building.

    Great cast and content
As a professional in the energy industry these folks are my go to for the latest news. Quality content, guests, and discussion in the world of energy politics.

    Much needed dialogue
In the age of tribalism and partisan cacophony, this show is a breath of fresh air delving into how differences in values leads us towards different policies. But more perhaps importantly, how we can see the best in the other side and bring about bipartisan solutions to the most challenging problems of today. My biggest complaint is that the show-runners seem to miss how Carbon Dividends changes the whole climate debate by reframing the solution from a burden to benefit for a vast majority of people (7/10 households, per a Treasury Dept study). It would be great if you delved deeper into this idea from various angles, especially since it’s universal property been described as a ‘libertarian socialist’ idea.

    Lacking female and POC perspective
I really wanted to like this podcast and stuck with it for the first season and then some...but without more of an intentional effort to incorporate female and POC perspectives, Political Climate is inevitably stuck in its own status quo echo chamber. Pyper-you don’t need these guys...

    Love the show, but…
I love your show! I have to say that I was a little annoyed at Shane on the last episode. He doesn’t seem to understand a simple cause and effect. Children are angry and striking because those in power - especially Republicans but Democrats too (take NJ Governor Phil Murphy as an example) - are doing far too little to address climate change. The children shouldn’t be bitterly blamed, the cause of their anger should be addressed - adults are mortgaging their future. His comments (especially at the beginning of the episode) evoked my memories of those in the South who rejected the claims of civil rights leaders, and I think he will be ashamed of his comments in the future, as underneath it all it is clear that he is a thoughtful person.

A republican that blames dems on climate?
I listened to this podcast for a bit and enjoyed a lot of it. I think the host does an especially good job. I find the republican on the show pretty annoying though. Not because of his political stances, but because of his approach to the conversation. He’s often uninformed, blames democrats for lack of action on climate (seriously), and his arguments often come down to his own experiences and personal preferences. I think a better idea would be to cycle through different experts on the left and right (if we’re going to stick with the outdated political spectrum model). Maybe that can’t be done because there aren’t enough republicans who think climate change is real in the first place.

    An informative and needed podcast!
I wanted to learn about the climate crisis and how I can make changes in my life. I found the podcast to be very informative and helpful. I like that it presents multiple and different point of views on this issue. the discussion is civil, thought provoking and inclusive of everyone’s thought. Because at the end of the day, climate crisis doesn’t care if you’re a Democrat or a Republican. Keep up the good work!
  • Atsur
    Good debate, but...
The Republican side (Shane) clearly argues in bad faith almost every episode, and when confronted with facts, backs into a corner or blames someone else. I listened to about 20 episodes but ultimately had to stop because he’s so negative, defensive, and petty. Honestly this show would be better with someone who wasn’t so openly hostile to reasonable discussion.
  • Hibsize :)
    Necessary conversation!
As a center right voter this is the information we need to hear! There is so much propaganda out there to wade through. This podcast is such a good source to hear both sides of current politics to guide opinions. Keep up the good work!

    FRESH AIR!
This podcast is a breath of fresh air... and we NEED this sort of discussion to help move forward so that our descendents will have fresh air to breathe. Why can't the DC politicians show the bipartisanship that is so engagingly demonstrated by Brandon Hurlbut and Shane Skelton? Let's move forward! I'm a liberal so... Hurlbut for President! This podcast is a MUST LISTEN. ***** Five Stars.

    Great Podcast
A great podcast with refreshingly cordial and productive dialogue on climate change. The podcast showcases perspective from both sides of the aisle very well. The topics are always engaging. Every week Shane, Brandon, and Julia marry informed dialogue with witty banter to both entertain and educate the listener. It’s like a well-informed, less emotional version of dinner table politics. I have only one criticism: as a moderator, Julia frequently leans a bit too far left, for me. As someone that leans left, I don’t find this to be too bothersome. I can only imagine that this political leaning, which is made evident in tone of voice & pushing back at co-hosts, makes it less palatable for anyone who leans to the right. All in all, this podcast is great. Much thanks to Julia, Brandon, and Shane!

    Excellent
These folks do a fabulous job of creating bipartisan, civil, fun dialogue about this tremendously important issue. Keep it up!

Political Climate: The Good, The Bad and Possible Improvements
OVERVIEW: I had high hopes for this podcast as a thoughtful conversation about climate change with one person with a politically left-leaning perspective and the other with a politically right-leaning perspective along with a moderator. I have listened to every episode of this podcast. What I often hear is just Shane (R) / Brandon (D) hurling political zingers at each other and trying to one-up each other. The say-something nice segment at the end of the podcast is a good way to end on a cordial tone but often their responses come off as shallow and half-hearted. SPECIFIC COMMENTS REGARDING THE 3 PODCASTERS: Shane often minimizes the way in which many of today’s Republican elected officials (especially in DC) continue to either deny climate change is a problem or say it is a problem but not because of human production / policies. This stance on climate change has a direct effect on some Republican voters in not believing climate change is a problem. This rhetoric makes it harder for all of us to address climate change. Also, many coal / gas / oil lobbyists are in President Trump’s cabinet and other senior political positions (Rick Perry (Energy), Andrew Wheeler (EPA), Rex Tillerson (formerly State), etc.) Julia has done okay in challenging Shane and Brandon when their talking points are inaccurate but has not gone far enough in playing some devil’s advocate during the discussion. Brandon sometimes understates how many Democratic politicians across the country often fail to transform their climate change is a problem stances into policy. A few democratic politician’s moderate stances on climate change have also held back progress on climate change. OPTIMISM: Shane / Brandon’s experience working in DC under Speaker Paul Ryan / Energy Sec. Steven Chu, respectively, brings a great perspective into this conversation. Julia’s experience as a climate change journalist in the US and others parts of the world brings a unique and helpful perspective differing from the political realm. All of them are highly knowledgeable on the subject of climate change. I have enjoyed the many guests, especially Senator Heinrich and Gov. Schwarzenegger. I hope the podcasts continues to feature guests on each episode, ranging from politicians (including Independents / Libertarians) to climate change researchers to climate change activists and so on. I hope the show also focuses more on climate change policies that states are enacting, which often move faster then the federal government. This could help viewers to advocate for those changes in their own states. Lastly, I appreciate the podcaster’s continuation in talking about climate change in good faith discussions. This needs to happen more in all aspects of politics. I do think that this show can be one of the best podcasts around.

    Great Bipartisan Conversations
This podcast brings both sides of the aisle together over an issue that connects us all as humans! It is very nuanced in it’s approach, highlight the success and shortcomings of climate change policies. Excited for the next one and can’t wait for season 2!

    Bi-partisan Podcast
I’ve listened to this podcast for a few months now. It’s great to hear Shane’s views, although I don’t often agree. The dialogue is good and communication seems to be the only way we will effectively fight climate change. Shane, make sure some of your colleagues jump on climate solutions bill regardless of party. Thanks!
  • Bill 197
Tries to 'tell both sides', but the R has no constructive suggestions
My first time ever writing a review, it's that bad. This is a great premise for a podcast, but tremendously frustrating to listen to. Shane is meant to be the enlightened R, but had little to offer in critique of his party that has gone off the rails on climate and no constructive solutions to offer other than that D's aren't doing a good enough job to reach out to voters in red states. Gave it several episodes, just made me shout at my phone a lot. Save yourself the trouble and find a Republican friend to talk with instead.
  • coggel
    Climate hawks need this
The US will not take the necessary massive action on climate change without building large political constituencies to support it. If we want to overcome the influence of small but powerful fossil fuel interests at the national and state and levels, we'll need Republican support. Climate hawks need to listen to people like Shane if they want traction.
  • Jake in DSM
    Like the show, but...
I do occasionally have to just stop the show out of frustration at a very particular talking point that gets brought up nearly every episode. The Republican panel member ALWAYS drops a line about “why won’t climate voters just support the handful of GOP reps that support climate action if that’s their priority?” and he clearly thinks this is a real gotcha sound bite. Neither the host nor the Democrat member ever push back with the obvious follow up to that: Even if they did, would it result in a majority of the GOP caucus that supports taking up climate policy? (No) Is Mitch McConnell or whoever would replace Paul Ryan going to introduce climate bills without that caucus majority? (No) Is a Curbelo or whoever going to actually challenge leadership on bringing those bills to the floor? (No) Somebody on the show, I’m BEGGING you to bring up these obvious questions instead of talking about Trump and norms when explaining why climate voters overwhelmingly support Dems!
  • dmcbrooks
Gets at the heart of the issues
Engaging and balanced, timely and thoughtful — a great podcast that brings together (often) opposing sides and makes a complicated topic sound simple!

    Bipartisan Climate discussion!
This is exactly what I had been looking for a reasonable Democrat and Republican talking about Climate Change! I can’t wait for their proposed solutions episode! I especially like the last segment, we can all find something nice to say about each other.
