    Astounding range, perfect antidote
The Daily Poem is just what it promises, one poem, from what seems like the entire universe of English language (and some translated) poetry. Sean reads the poem, and adds a few remarks, context and commentary. Besides hearing a new poem everyday, you can pick up a mass of esoteric knowledge. And you can binge!

    A gem!

    My favorite podcast
I admit that I am a book nerd. But even if you aren’t, The Daily Poem is easily accessible and covers a wide variety of poetry in short, easily digestible bites. The hosts do an excellent job explaining possible interpretations and pointing out key features (rhyme scheme, symbolism, etc.) without the condescending attitude often ascribed (justly or unjustly) to professors, critics, and other dwellers in the ivory towers of academia. I recommend this podcast to everyone and anyone! (It is also family-friendly, so no need to turn it off when kids around. They might even enjoy it too, and they will definitely learn something!)

    New host ruins it
This used to be a good podcast. This used to be a poem with a simple, light intro or review, but has turned into a long, droning poetry lecture that drowns out the actual poem. Poor choice of a new host and platform. Unsubscribing now.

    Beautiful
Wow, I love this podcast and am very much thankful for it. A daily poem and a piece of thought along with it from some of my favorite podcasters is a great thing to listen to everyday. Thank you Goldberry Studios!

    Unpretentious
Free of pretentiousness, just right in length, and an excellent and varied selection. The hosts do the poems justice in their recitation and remarks. I’ve found a new love of poetry through this podcast!

    The Best Poetry Podcast
I love poetry, and I have listened to darn near every poetry podcast I could find. The Daily Poem is by far the best I have come across. David, Emily, and Shawn do an excellent job reciting the poems, and their insights and knowledge is down-to-earth. Anyone who loves poetry, this is the podcast for you.

    Love this podcast!
I am so glad I found this podcast. It takes about 15 minutes for me to get to work each day. This is perfect to listen to on my commute. As a teacher, I have always loved poetry but never had the time to do a really deep dive into it. This podcast lets me do just that!

    A gem of a podcast
This podcast has become a small and necessary haven for me. The readings and reflections on the poems have a brevity that allows me to listen no matter how busy life becomes. But the beauty and insight contained here can affects the whole quality of my days. I found this podcast while searching for readings of Richard Wilbur’s poems and I’ve stayed to discover so many other splendid poems. Thank you for this invaluable public service.

    The Writer by Richard Wilbur
Please take down the podcast that misattributes the Wilbur poem to Sara Teasdale. Thanks.

    This podcast is a treasure
I’ve been an avid listener for over a year, and look forward to each episode. On my own, I gravitate toward more modern poetry, so I appreciate how this podcast features a wide spectrum of poets, spanning centuries. The hosts often select poetry that corresponds to the season or an upcoming holiday, or a poem that is relevant to the moment in history we are currently living. After a first read of the poem, they do an excellent job unpacking the poem, always pulling out meaning and ideas and form I would have not picked up on my own. The poem is then read once more. I like that the episodes are brief—5 to 10 minutes total, and I really enjoy listening to David Kern and Heidi White’s voices. They sound like old, familiar friends, and currently, their show is the only “grown-up” podcast that my two young kids will happily listen to in the car.

    Great content and length.
What is there to say? Poetry is wondrous and if you love it or want to love it or need it or write it or are simply breathing, you should tune in to the Daily Poem. I love that the episodes are short yet we get to hear the poems twice. I wish they were daily, but appreciate the time put into it by the team!

    Poetry lovers with heart
Thank you, Heidi & David & others, for presenting such a variety of poems contemporary and traditional. It’s refreshing to hear poetry lovers speak from the heart (not just the head) about a poem. Also, they read each poem twice, as one should, to savor it. I’m sorry the episodes aren’t more frequent but catch them whenever they are posted.

    Accessible & Thought Provoking
I am grateful to Heidi for making poetry accessible. I have always struggled through understanding poems and Heidi presents her selections beautifully and with with succinct and wonderfully thought-provoking reflections. I never imagined that it would be in my most difficult and exhausting phase of life that I would be able to delve more fully into the world of poetry. Thank you!

The Daily Poem is a winner!
The Daily Poem is a winner to both emulate as a Poetry podcaster and provide a Touchstone and Spiritual Compass each day. Heidi White’s reading and reflections for the Poem “Fundamentalism” are compelling. I’ll be coming back!

    Thank you.
At 55 years old, I just became interested in poetry. I’m sure this podcast will become a wonderful resource for me as I explore this latest gift from God. Poetry.

    Committed listener with a suggestion
I really love this podcast. I was disappointed when there was a break a few months ago but we just continued to listen to former episodes. Each day around the dining room table, I gather with my boys(6 of them) and we read a portion of the Bible, we sing a hymn, we discuss a great painter and we listen to The Daily Poem. It enriches our homeschool. I love it so much. My only suggestion is maybe on occasion when there is a more adult themed poem, that there would be something indicating that on the details. If you choose to disregard this, we will still listen. Because we really think it’s wonderful. Just a small suggestion. But overall we just think it’s pretty close to perfect! Thank you so much for taking the time to enrich the lives of the listeners!

Thank you. Simply by listening my brain is ignited and my heart set a fire, as I carpool myself and family about. Your podcast is a treasure, thank you.

    Try it
No one has ever labeled me a “poetry” person. But I love this podcast. I used to view poetry as unnecessarily long-winded and repetitive, or even pretentious and removed from reality. This could not be further from the truth. As I’ve experienced good poetry I can see that when truth is delivered in a vivid simile or a familiar metaphor, that truth holds more clarity and meaning. Thank you for such tasteful content.

    Thank you for this
In the incessant stream of back chatter and bent-straight political jargon I listen to these poems And feel my lungs fully expand. Thank you so much for your honest excitement and love for what you do. It is very apparent

I’ve missed you in 2021, though your hiatus has been a nice time to revisit older episodes.

    Poetry perfection
I have been listening to this podcast since the beginning and I love everything about it. The episodes are the perfect length with just enough commentary to add reflection without an overwhelming amount of information. The voices are warm and soothing and add to the beauty of the poetry. The poems selected are lovely and I so appreciate hearing them twice (once before and once after the commentary). At less then 10 minutes, it is easy to squeeze this into our daily homeschool routine over breakfast. 💕

    Daily Dose of Beauty
I look forward to this podcast every day. I started listening in an effort to learn how to appreciate poetry. It definitely accomplished that purpose! I’ve been introduced to so many poets I now love. Our world needs poetry more than ever.

    Lost in words
Sad that such great poems are lost in the Pickett split speed of reading. Then done in by the halting unsure commentary. Too frustrating!

    What an oasis
Thank you for bringing your choice poems to life. I am requesting you read one of my all time favorite of poems. It’s by Joyce Kilmer. The House With Nobody in it. It was the first poem I memorized. To this day when I walk by an ‘ empty house,’ I can’t help but stop and think of that poem. Szymborska! As well. Love at first sight. Clouds... ah so many. Thank you for giving me such joy.

    Intro to Poetry
I’ve been a reader throughout most of my life, however I never really got into (or even just “got”) poetry. This podcast provides a gentle daily dose of the poetic. The one thing I would change is the reading speed. Not always, but occasionally the words just come too quickly for me to comprehend; some slowing down or brief pauses would be helpful. Thank you again for sharing your love of poetry!

    Packs a punch
This is a favorite podcast. There is so much power, goodness and beauty in a good poem, that a podcast that is only 5 to 10 minutes long on average still uplifts and edifies me. I can find the time to listen to this podcast and it can be as refreshing as a chapter of a good book or a long, meaningful conversation. Thank you for this gift.

Thank you for featuring poems by African Americans the last few days. They have been a source of encouragement & hope during the recent upheavals.

    Soothing & inspiring poetry podcast
This podcast is so soothing and inspiring and a great way to start your day. I love hearing the host dig into the poems and discuss what they mean.
  • G.B. Vibes
    Great Commentary
In a lot of poetry podcasts the host will talk about the poem at hand in an overly sentimental, very rote manner. I prefer this host, who takes a more natural sounding approach to his commentary.

    I ❤️ Poetry
I listen to several poetry podcasts - but this is my favorite! Great selection with a light analysis that always gets my brain spinning.
