I’ve thoroughly culled over most suggestions in the ‘cozy-horror’ genre, but somehow I only just discovered this little jewel. This show is beautifully written, narrated, and presented. I relished every episode, thank you for putting this into the world! Now, on to the Antique Shop.

I just discovered this podcast and binged the whole thing. It’s really enjoyable and quite spooky! The narrator’s voice is wonderful, and she’s excellent at injecting emotion into her tone. Give it a try!

I started binge listening after finding Maya’s other podcast. I’m trying to pace myself through the two because they’re both so good. I love her Scottish accent, dialect. It took me some time to get used to it which wasn’t too hard because her voice is lovely. She writes and records her stories. I’d love to contribute some money if it meant she could continue her writing and podcasting. She has so many 5 star reviews. I don’t understand why it took me so long to find this as well as her other podcast. Laura.

Sorry this podcast is over—would have liked a lot more. It’s a nice mix of supernatural and human psychology. The podcaster has a lovely speaking voice, not overly dramatic, but a great storyteller.

I have a really hard time getting invested in stories - it has to have the right mix - a little creepy without being gruesome, suspenseful, but not ridiculously so, and creative, but not unrealistic. This podcast is the perfect balance of all these things. I started with the Antique Shop, which I am greatly enjoying, and was curious if there were any others by the same author/narrator that were similar in feel. This has drawn me in with the same level of interest (which is another really big deal - having multiple ideas and being able to turn each of them into wonderful stories). Thank you for making a storyline that has the perfect balance of creepy but not too gruesome for me to enjoy. This story runs on the perfect middle ground.

I absolutely love this podcast. I started listening to The Antique Shop done by the same narrator and was so happy to find she had this podcast as well. It’s such a fascinating and well thought out story.

I’m late to this podcast. I actually listened to the Antique Shoppe first. Both are wonderful works of art!! I am just starting season 2 of this one. I greatly recommend both podcasts and hope people give them a listen.

I listened to TMS and was so enthralled that jumped over to The Antique Shop. It is hard to describe one element that makes these podcasts special...it is a sum of the ability of GT to conjure a scene, the narrative, and the wonderful Scottish accent and wording. The story is a puzzle that nevertheless takes you along rather than seeking to stump you. Each reveal is organic and makes you understand things that previously happened that were not clearly related. I highly recommend both podcasts.

This podcaster is a gem, a treasure. Her work is like a perfect little shop, well loved, sitting among big box stores.

Thought I was going to listen to this podcast while falling asleep—as I do with many of my favorite horror-ish podcasts. But noooo it was too interesting! Eventually just binged it and enjoyed every second! Also, loved the psychology and statistics authenticity. Question though: what exactly is Sarah researching during her PhD? I think we heard a lot about what she’s not studying and what her colleagues are researching...but not her topic? As a PhD student myself, I’ve never met a PhD student who is reticent about what they work on lol This has no impact on the quality of the story (which was great!) but just something I kept wondering about.

I devoured both seasons this weekend. It’s a supernatural mystery podcast that manages to create and eerie atmosphere without relying on gore or jump scares. I do hope this isn’t the last we hear about Sarah McIlwraith❤️

An entertainingly, spooky show that has a starting point and an end. It didn’t leave you hanging nor did she continue to carrying out the story. Well done and I look for to the attic shop story.

For those looking for another Black Tapes and Ghosts in the Burbs, this is great! And her Scottish accent is fantastic!

This podcast is so well written and very thoughtfully paced. Not too fast to lose you, but not too slow to lose your interest. Has so much intrigue that it hooks you from the onset and won’t let you go. Masterfully done!

I pretty much enjoyed every minute of this podcast: it’s one of those gems that showcases how much can be done even on what I assume to be a shoe-string budget. With nothing but great writing and a single, talented narrator, this audio drama draws you in and holds you for a solid binge.

I’m a huge fan of spooky podcasts and learned about this one on a Ghosts in the Burbs fan page. It’s got all my favorite features: running story, but with a specific focus for each episode; good character development with making the story overly complex; and haunts that are just ordinary enough to be believable. Love the narration and pacing. Can’t wait to hear more!

This podcast was recommended on the “Ghosts in the Burbs” page, which I’m a huge fan of, and was struggling to find a replacement for since it ended. The McIlwraith Statements is exactly what I was looking for...Hope I don’t binge all of season 1 before season 2 begins!

It is podcasts such as this that keep me on the hunt for new favorites. I loved it from the first episode and, since there are not many episodes available currently, I must pace myself so as not to listen to all of them right away. A great and satisfying new find. Highly recommended.
