Great blend of music and social/political commentary
Vinnie is highly intelligent, an inspiring musician and is easy to understand. One of the few musicians who has NOT been indoctrinated by a political ideology . I enjoy the show very much.

Often insightful, but freewheeling has its limits
This podcast is what a podcast can ideally be: a host talking about whatever he wants to talk about, because he’s earned the right to do so. When he sticks to music, in particular drumming, and things related either directly or indirectly to the music business, “Breakfast With Vinnie” is a very insightful listen. Some episodes, in particular the shorter ones which are essentially thought-pieces or topical essays, can be astoundingly insightful, if not touching. His tribute to Chick Corea stands out in that way. It’s worth listening to more than once. When Vinnie and his guests veer into politics, philosophy and social issues, however, it’s anybody’s guess what’s about to happen. At times it can get a bit awkward, if not cringeworthy, in its simplicity and naïveté. This can happen, for example, when subjects like the US Constitution come up (no, it’s not the best thing out there, and its inherent 18th-century flaws are one of the reasons why the American political system, and American society more generally, are now ungovernable and the US is quickly reaching a pre-revolutionary state of disorder and disintegration). The recent interview with David Wolfe is an example of this freewheeling format veering off the road and dangerously close to a ditch. There was exactly zero self-interrogation or questioning of what Wolfe thinks about the way the world works, neither by himself nor Vinnie. While Wolfe obviously knows a lot about health and nutrition, he started to sound like Bill Maher after a few joints and a shot of vinegar when he left his wheelhouse. Vinnie’s relatable, small-town Pennsylvania-boy style usually keeps him from becoming overbearing or straying too far, but that’s also likely what keeps him from challenging people who occasionally spout obvious nonsense. Maybe Vinnie should do a little exploring by finding a political scientist, sociologist, or historian who also plays the drums so they can mix it up a little bit with more valuable insights on things not related to music and drumming, while letting Vinnie shine while talking about what he knows best. Then get back to the podcast’s sweet-spot by talking about music and the musician’s life with people like John McLaughlin and Gary Chafee…

    AI episode
This guest was pretty clueless and delusional on what AI will become, especially in music. I’ve seen the normal people in the world , especially younger generations that are completely happy with AI taking over ! They could care less about who okayed on an album and are happier with a robot . Sure the artists and musicians will play for the love of it but the only crowd will be themselves . And computer generated music? You think anyone will be able to tell? No way! Go listen to Rick Beato for a reality check!

    Chick
My condolences Vinnie. It’s obvious Vinnie has deep deep feelings for this wonderful man, so glad for that because this is one of the most beautiful eulogies I have ever heard. Thank you so much Vinnie, but more, thank you Chick for opening many eyes and ears and minds.

    Real Life Lessons Learned
I like how you focus on the positive character qualities of individuals and how that transcends the music business or any other business we the listeners are engaged in. I love drumming, but the content of your podcast makes me want to be the best fruit cutter at Publix Supermarkets that I can be while being disciplined at practicing my snare drum at home. Thank you for sharing your experiences as a top notch drummer and the interactions with those in the music industry, and connecting the dots for us.

    Hark! Brilliant musician speaks.
Hosted by a drummer regarded as one of the finest living musicians; this podcast is truly a joy for the thoughtful musician. Whether or not you are a drummer, you’ll likely enjoy the rhapsodic meanderings of Mr. Coliata’s train of though on topics directly and indirectly musical. I am very much looking forward to new episodes! Enjoy!

    More please
Vinnie is an amazing drummer...and an amazingly deep thinker. You don’t need to be a drummer to get something out of his message.

I can’t wait for more breakfast!
I found out about Vinnie’s podcast just a few days ago and I couldn’t stop playing the episodes back to back. I’ll be revisiting these often to ponder on the many, many important subjects Vinnie presents. It’s no wonder why this man can express himself so beautifully on a musical level when you can clearly hear how, in a similar way, he can express his thoughts through this podcast. Go Vinnie!!!

    Good Listen
The episodes are good listening. I enjoy them. Today I decided to take a ride to listen to the latest installment just to get out of the house. First I listened to Vinnie lay down an incredible groove to “When the World is Running Down” (Taratata 1996) then the podcast. All in all it made for a very good day so far listening to Vinnie!!

    Breakfast with Vinnie.
Great podcast. “Vinnie” says it all. He’s truly in a category that very few drummers are in. I look forward to hearing more from you you Vinnie.I was disappointed about the interview with Terrace Martin when you got into politics or he did specifically. Not disappointed that you talked about that or he did because you are & should be free to do that of course.I was disappointed about your opinions because they were totally contrary to what Christianity is about. I know you’re a Christian Vinnie. Terrace claims to be.No Christian could stand with the Democratic Party and claim to understand Christ. Let alone on the issue of denying humans the right to life. Just add everything else on top of that.

    Everything I’ve heard so far
