Who Shat On The Floor At My Wedding? And Other Crimes

396
Comedy #63

Who Shat On The Floor At My Wedding? was a question shared by brides Helen McLaughlin and Karen Whitehouse after they tied the knot on 11 August, 2018 on a boat in Amsterdam. It was a question that launched a podcast, which led to the hiring of unqualified detective Lauren Kilby, the purchase of a €99 lie detector, and the bothering of some of the world’s best forensic experts - all in an attempt to find out “poo dunnit”.

For season 2, the investigative trio is back with a brand new mystery set in Sweden (Scandi Noir if you will) called The Case Of The Tiny Suit/Case. They now live by the phrase “when the cops say no, we say yes”. This season explores a serial act of reverse theft: a tiny three piece corduroy suit and a suitcase containing threatening items were planted on the victim’s veranda in the middle of nowhere. Our forensic experts are also back on board, not because they want to be, but because we asked really really nicely, (and Karen can be unnervingly persuasive).

    Wonderfully absurd
This show was just what I needed. A hilarious take on “non-crime crimes.”

A Perfect Balance of Comedy and True-Crime
These three wonderful women are HYSTERICAL. I absolutely loved their antics, their senses of humor, their simultaneous amateurism and dedication when cracking the case. But there is also a real element of tension and mystery in the podcast as well, and a real excitement as Detective Lauren and her partners in non-crime inch closer to their ultimate revelations.

    Perfect
Best true crime podcast I’ve ever heard.

    More Please!
I want more of this type of entertainment. Super funny and ridiculous hijinks. Solved or not solved it’s still a fun journey. Love how candid Mike Berry and Jo the forensic person are about how amateur the detective work is. Great contrast! People that take the podcast too seriously are not the right audience for this. Easy listening entertainment. Relax 1 star people! Or go listen to some science if you can chill out a bit. I want more seasons!! Totally binge-worthy!

    Hysterical
I was intrigued when I found out about this podcast, but I had no idea what to expect. After listening to most of the first season, I can say this is one of the funniest things I’ve ever listened to. It’s NOT a typical whodunnit true crime podcast! It’s a joke, people! The perfect amount of silly and fun, the characters are hilarious, and their Australian accents are the cherry on top

    Initially funny, but got cringey
I initially liked the premise and I do find the women to have very funny personalities. And all of the “suspects” were all good sports - at least the ones that appeared in the podcast anyway. Where I think it went left was when they keep harping on how the act tarnished their wedding. Someone dealt with it and I’m sure the actual night went on just fine. As they also reiterate often, the guests at the wedding are all people they have close relationships with. Given the incident was likely an accident because common sense would suggest so (I mean really, why would someone you have a close relationship do that on purpose?), they didn’t even have the decency to not make it such a huge deal that they managed to make 13 episodes? I can’t imagine how embarrassed the “culprit” must feel now knowing these women went to such great lengths to figure out who did it, spoke to so many people, shared everything worldwide, etc.

    Wonderful!
Both a thoughtful meta examination of true crime podcasts and a thoughtless romp full of laughter and warmth. And the sound design is top drawer too!
  • FireflyBright
    Brilliant!
This is a perfect podcast. At this point I’ve relistened several times and it’s just as funny every time. Can’t wait for season 3!

    The process is the product
Who cares if they solve the “crimes?” It’s all about the mishaps they have along the way. A dozen more seasons, please.

    Hilarious
In a world where true crime podcasts hold too much weight…A parody full of hilarity is exactly what we needed. Don’t listen if you have no sense of humor, as it will lead you to write a bad review that these ladies don’t deserve. A true gem of a podcast. I hope there will be another season in the future.

    so fun and funny
These ladies are so delightful to listen to I have been smiling and giggling all day. I just love their sense of humor

    Love it
I was also late to the game on this gem of a podcast. I finished the first season and thankfully only had to wait a few weeks for season 2 to start. The revelation of the suit had me rolling. Such a fun listen and can’t wait to hear what crime the detectives are going to solve next!

    3 Blind Mice
I took the first season as a quirky one off. Someone did something very gross and inappropriate at a wedding. These, comedians I’ll call them, had resources and alot of time on their hands. I got invested because of the depths they were willing to go into their investigations. When they didnt solve the case, ultimately creating a podcast about failing, I took it as they ran out of time, or due to the strange carefreeness of European humor, they never really truly cared. It was in the second season I fully realized they did not care. They didnt care about the suitcase. They spent more time developing sound effects and singing choirs for the podcast than investigating. That’s because they are podcasters, not mystery solvers. It became clear rather soon they would not solve this case either. Are they funny? Kind of. I mean, they are mostly confused and narcissistic most of the podcast. Far too busy giving side winks and trying to impress friends of friends with their pretend Sherlock performances. All this to say two seasons and I’m left feeling like the true victim.

    True crime at its finest!
I lol’ed every episode. I am late to the party but I truly love this pod. So clever!

    Never solved!
Season 1 is never solved. Waste of time.

    Excited to start season 2
When I found season 1 of this show, it sounded hilarious but I was wondering how it could go on for 13 episodes… then I never wanted it to end! I’ve been saving season 2 for my drive to the beach next week and can’t wait for the next case.

    Fantastic
I can’t even express how much joy this podcast has brought me. Hysterical, interesting, and intriguing! Amazing detective work. 🤯🤣❤️

One of the most novel, groundbreaking true crime shows ever done
There being a season two is honestly one of the best things that’s ever happened to me. I didn’t even realize how much I missed the podcast of elite criminal investigators. Although, if I’m being honest, I think I’m going to be really disappointed if they do solve the crime this season. And beyond tickled at the professors involvement too. What a gem!
  • BlameShame
    Hilarious!!!
Love the show! It’s beyond funny and I just can’t wait for another episode. Keep them coming!
  • Hemmnes
    It gets boring
There could have been half as many episodes as their were. It gets repetitive and tedious. And there’s no resolution. I wish I didn’t waste 13 hours of my life.
  • Salt Lake Buddhist
    Incredible
Obsessed with this podcast. It’s hilarious, and I’m on the edge of my seat for each new episode!
  • andyrivero
    No other podcast like it
There’s quite literally no other podcast like this. Any podcast to claim to be one of those “you didn’t know you needed this” or “true crime meets comedy” doesnt realize they’re falling short of this podcast. And by comedy I mean it’s comedic that the perpetrators believe they can get away from this elite group of investigators.

Who Doesn’t Love a True Crime?
This show is amazing! I was tired of listening to murder and couldn’t find something to fill the void. Then a friend told me to listen to this and I LOVE it!!! Thank you ladies for the best podcast in a long time!

    A meme brought me here
I discovered this show from a meme. 10/10, no notes and dear god did I start laughing immediately.

Great Theme, but Dragged Out WAY Too Long
This started off hilariously and could have easily wrapped up in about 6 episodes, but it dragged on for 13 episodes, half of which felt like "filler" and repetition due to lack of content. By episode 8 it becomes a bit tedious, repeating the same details over and over again. I almost stopped listening after the zoo and submarines episodes but I persevered, all for naught. How mahy times did they really need interview Henk with the exact same questions over and over again? I wonder if the hosts were contractually obligated to do a specific number of episodes? Or, did they assume that the mystery would actually be solved during the course of the podcas. SPOILER, it isn't. They tried to fill the later episodes with repetitive content in hopes for a Grand Finale that never came. The finale itself is a total dud, chock full of goofy sound bites and audio FX that attempt to distract listeners from the lack of content. Too bad, I really did enjoy it for the first half.

Sooo funny and Henk is 😍
Henk is soo cute haha! How he’s like “I love my girlfriend, I’d wipe her butt” haha so cute. Team Henk forever. Also this podcast is so funny, I can’t get anything done while listening to it bc I’m laughing too hard!!

    So hilarious
Love this so so much. I listened with my coworker at work and we both laughed out loud in our respective cubes! Can’t wait for season 2!!

Please give us a Season 2
The showrunners should solicit outrageous true “crime” mysteries from listeners, pick the best one, and investigate for Season 2. It frankly reminds me of something me and my girlfriends would do to have a laugh that just went too far - except in a good way. Honestly well done! This is the kind of entertaining and ridiculous podcast we he heneed in a world where it’s too easy to be consumed by the heavy and the stressful.
  • Kbert123
    Ridiculous in the best way
So funny and outrageous. Laughing out loud each episode

  • Justcuz010
    A very funny ride
This was a well executed concept with some great laughs along the way, but way too much time was spent on the ridiculous submarine and zoo theories. Like, a memorable amount of time. Should’ve been cut instead of dragging out the middle episodes.
  • Nullity
    Ho Hum
If you’re reading this review before you start the series, know that no culprit is ever found. Knowing this I quit listening halfway through episode six and unsubscribed. Same lame, jokes over and over.

    10/10
This show is truly a delight. So funny and entertaining. The accents are a bonus! I wish we found out who done it…maybe we can have a season 2 someday!
  • mmsurvivorfan
    Repetitive
I hate the detective she keeps making the same joke over and over again.
  • mysolareclipse
    Hilarious, hard-hitting investigative journalism
Detective Lauren is a treasure — she gets grittiest details from her interviews and all the laughs from me. Each episode with the detective and fantastic brides is a delightful journey that keeps you at the edge of your seat!

Very funny podcast. A nice distraction from doom scrolling

    Just Plain Funny
Even though we don’t find out who did it, it was more about the laughs we had along the way. Also, their accents make it funnier to me. I could listen to them talk about anything (clearly). Jealous of this friend group, seems like such a fun time!

    Nearly perfect
This show made me giggle. That’s not easy. I love the personalities and the friendships these people have. Its delightful to hear them laugh together. I did feel it became a little repetitive at the end - and I was disappointed to have it end without resolution (I avoid cold cases and mysteries). Even so, it was worth the listen. Thanks for the joy!

  • sparkyrock
    Drawn out with no payoff
I’ve never felt the need to review a podcast until I had the misfortune of finding this one via some list online of “must listen” podcasts. What started out as something fun and interesting quickly turned into something drawn out and boring. It got repetitive and just sounded like an attention grab. This could have been shortened by a few hours and gotten the same point across. The hosts were ok to listen to though, no complaints with inflection, etc.

Can you make an update episode where you read the bad reviews? 😂😂😂

    Listen while rage cleaning
If you need to laugh while you clean the dried piss of no fewer than 3 degenerate guys off your bathroom floor I recommend this podcast

12/10, will listen again and again and again
I’m eight episodes in and am in a constant state of childish giggling. The interviews, interrogations, and explorations are so amusing. This is tomfoolery of the highest order and everything I never knew I needed in my life.
