    Great Stories!
I just found this podcast a few weeks ago after having had my own survival experience. I’ve binged every episode and thoroughly enjoy listening to Kaycee, Tessa, and Julie share stories and tips for surviving all kinds of harrowing events. You guys are awesome!

    Too much talking
Interview at the end, not the beginning. I’m not interested in this guy until after I hear the story.

    Favorite bedtime podcast
I look forward to each new episode every Monday. I really enjoy the hosts even voices, the matter of fact, yet sprinkled with humor, way they tell each story, and the stories themselves are fascinating. My favorite podcast to fall asleep to every night, and I listen to them on repeat. Great job and thanks for THE CRUX!!

    Love it!
I love stories of survival against the odds and am always ecstatic to find and subscribe to new ones. Discovered this one yesterday, and am loving it! Mind blowing stories of human grit and endurance. So glad I found you.

    My go to
My sister who lives in Paris shared your podcast with me a few months ago and I’ve been hooked ever since. I’ve listened to most of your episodes, usually while driving, cooking, or in my art studio. I’ve told everyone about it because it is so well done, interesting, and fascinating. Why? I think because at the end of it all it is about HOPE, and the strength of the survivors and rescuers. Also, it shows how important the power of positive thinking has in life (and survival). The hosts of the podcast are pleasant to listen to and hear their knowledgeable perspective. They do a great job researching and adding to the story with relevant information about survival. This is my favorite podcast right now and I eagerly wait for when the post a new episode.

    Interesting Accounts
I love listening to these stories during workouts. The length is perfect and the accounts of what people go through to survive are always fascinating. I especially appreciate when the hosts follow up with “where are they now.“

    Fun
I like the stories. I’ve listened to a lot of podcasts and only a few repeats. Kind of relaxing too.

    wonderful subject matter but…
unfortunately the hosts appear to be reading the text and it becomes very dry and boring as a result. I would love to love this podcast but their delivery makes it hard to recommend.

    All over the place
Not easy to follow the story as they bounce around too much.

    Ad placement ruins show
No longer listening due to the terrible ad placement.

I like the calm tellings and shorter format
Stumbled on this podcast and generally really enjoy it. The calmer voices work for me. I also don’t mind the ads, even though it’s a bummer they come mid sentence. The episodes are a nice length and I’ve added this show to my rotation. Hooray!

    AI Hosts?
I’m pretty convinced these hosts are fake and this is an AI podcast.

    Good stories, but…
I enjoy this podcast for the most part but the ads launch mid-word or mid-sentence and it aggravates me every single time. Please fix the ad placement!!!

FIX THE ADS AND THE EDITING
Please please please fix the ads and the editing. It is so terrible and makes it hard to listen. The stories are good but the editing is awful!!!

I thank you for your podcast. I like the way you gals interact.
I usually listen on Monday morning as I make coffee then sit down with Kaycee and Julie as they tell me a survival story. I listen to a lot of podcasts and think you two do a great job! Keep up the good work.
  • Myradelmar
    No thanks
Wrong business to get into being a podcaster if your voices are flat and uninteresting and you can’t storytell?

    Ads
Why ads mid sentence?? It’s so rude!!
  • Fluffin-A
    Boring
Are these women here against their will? They don't sound like they're enjoying themselves. They're not well prepared. There's a lot of speculation on topics that were not specifically included in their notes. How'd they get sponsors?? Kind of a tortuous listen.

    Bland
Episode 1 is unlistenable. The host’s halting cadence leaves so much dead air that I shut it off after 10 minutes. I scanned ahead to a more recent episode, thinking the quality must be pretty improved after 3 years of experience. Yeah… it was improved, but still really flat. The hosts gain some confidence but the listen is still not worth the abrupt ad interruptions. The bests kinds of podcasts are either really clean and professional or, if the format is more casual, you have to have witty commentary. This podcast doesn’t offer anything new or creative or witty. The hosts are as bland as cornflakes. If you like cornflakes, stick around. If you like coco puffs, listen to “Tooth and Claw.” It’s a far superior production.

    Ads
I really like this podcast but lately the ads have been SO SO poorly placed! Like…middle of a sentence poor. Please fix it! Y’all are so great otherwise.
  • Galex890
    Love
Thank you both for covering the recent tragedies brought on by hurricane Helene and Milton. As a victim of Helene and a lover of survival stories, this was a deeply emotional listen.
  • Chavez210
    I tried
Tried liking this podcast. I enjoy survival stories. Just sounds like your reading off notes and not really telling the story. Just reading the story.
  • janelle.beasley
    Please fix the ads!
I love this podcast but you started to insert the ads mid-sentence and it is very jarring and difficult to listen to.

    Really enjoy this
I really like this show. It’s an overview of situations, it doesn’t claim to be a deep dive on all the details. I think the hosts pick out the most interesting facts and they react with appropriate emotion without being dramatic.

    Great survival podcast
Give it a listen! I love the style of storytelling! Keep up the great stories and experiences!

    Very good!
Just found you and I love the podcast. Very nice hosts and interesting episodes.

    Medical stuff
I love the medical background the hosts bring to these stories. It’s my favorite thing about this show. The hosts share a lot of medical stories from their experience in treating patients. The more nitty-gritty medical explanations, the better the episode!

I want to like this podcast!
I really do want to like this podcast. I believe the intentions of the hosts to entertain and educate are genuine. However, there is an obvious lack of basic research and preparation that I find troubling. For example, on the recent episode about the eruption of Mount Saint Helens one of the hosts said that earthquakes were causing the tectonic plates to move. That is wholly inaccurate. The exact opposite cause and effect relationship is true: The movement of tectonic plates causes earthquakes to occur. In the internet era I find these types of factual inaccuracies to be inexcusable.

Great program! Great range of topics and formats thank you.
I recently discovered your program and it’s absolutely wonderful. I particularly love the rapport you two have together. Your sense of humor and side meanderings are entertaining and often hilarious! I appreciate it all. I’m going through every episode in no time because they’re all so good. I love the range of topics and the diversity with which you present each episode. You never know what you’re going to hear and your interviewing and presenting information is really good.

    Stop the giggling
I’ve learned the best podcasts have: 1- no giggling 2- one host. More than one host usually means a bad podcast. I saw the story descriptions, and thought this was going to be a good story- telling podcast. Then within 15 seconds the giggling begins, and you can tell the host is reading, and not very well.
  • Achy Joints
    Exhilarating!
I just discovered this Podcast.. I’m a True Crime enthusiast but found myself needing to take a little break from the sadness and death. This my friends is just what the doctor ordered, stories of survival. What better way to find that there is hope even when you have lost all hope! Thank you, Kaycee and Julie
  • Jheath4
    Great podcast
I enjoy the stories and their banter, and they both have soothing voices.

    Great podcast!
One of my absolute go to podcasts. Compelling stories and the hosts are engaging and easy to listen to. A+
  • riverrat_dave
    Not worthwhile
The information being put out is not novel, and for the confidence with which it is expressed it isn’t dispelling any myths or informing at the cutting edge. Also, advertisements are frustratingly inserted literally mid-sentence. There are better out there, keep looking.
  • Plaqueattack
Good stories, please edit commercials better!
I really want to listen to more of this but it drives me crazy that the commercials are literally in the middle of their sentences. Takes you right out of the story. It’s aggravating. I think the podcast could be much better otherwise.
  • Stockettofficial
Not great does not engage listener
Unfortunately, this is one of the worst storytelling platform podcast. I’ve listened to the host are not engaging. The stories are lackluster would not recommend.
  • Sensitive listener
I love the show. Keep em coming
Even though I have heard many of the stories before, I enjoy the details and safety discussions that you share. But -now that you have sponsors, please turn down the volume on the ads! I use earbuds and find it very annoying to have the loud ads. Thank you!
  • Whaattheheck
    Leaves much to be desired
I wanted to like this podcast as I like the outdoors and inspirational survival stories. However there is obviously lack of enthusiasm and research done for these episodes. The show has potential if there was more effort put into researching and reporting on the topics. Too many interruptions with unnecessary and “guessing” opinions.
  • Kim, Boulder
    No enthusiasm
They both seem to have NO interest in their own stories! It is hard to stay awake with their monotone voices!
  • makeitstop2
    Exciting stories made unbearably boring
I listened to the first episode produced in 2021 and found it incredibly irritating. McIntosh and Bennington sound like lazy unintelligent young women. I’m not saying they are lazy and unintelligent. They must be the opposite if this podcast is still being produced in 2024. They sound mostly bored or unimpressed with their own content — like high school students forced to read a history paper out loud in class. Even their unscripted, conversational exchanges are boring. Finally they don’t seem to care enough about their stories to do any research of their own, or even figure out how to pronounce common words they aren’t familiar with or hear very often. Maybe they are high school kids?
  • Disrespecting a tragedy.
    Episode 105: coast guard rescue
This was one of the most disrespectful episodes I have ever listened to. Comments about men ‘peeing in their pants’ cause they were so scared and laughing about it and saying that when they went into the water ‘at least their pee was warmer than the ocean’. Experiences like this are no joke- having grown up on the North Atlantic where men lose their lives to the ocean frequently is life altering for families and survivers. Giggling about this like entitled ‘valley girls’ is beyond words. Will not be listening to your podcasts ever again and suggest you change your tone when retelling stories about how people experience tragedy and life-loss.

    Like listening to friends
Great survival stories. Short and remind listener of tips that helped survivor in their situation. Clean language, too. Glad it was recommended to me.
  • CoCo Da Monkie
    Very mediocre
Host has no plan. Very poor production. Hard to listen to. If you can’t read wikipedia, this is a great podcast for you.
