DeniseElWhat a mess of a podcast, still ads? Paid for no ads!Major issues with this podcast. The audio for episode 5 was episode 1. The description says this was corrected. It wasn't. Ads throughout every episode. We paid for these pods and part of the deal is "no ads". What's the deal Binge?! There was something about the pod that made what should be a very compelling story almost totally uninteresting. It might be the narrator or the editing. I normally enjoy podcasts where the narrator/host has a close proximity to the story in real life. He didn't sound like someone who knew the parties affected by the events but discussed being a closer friend to the victim. Unfortunately, maybe it's the tenor of his voice that's the bigger issue. He would be better suited to hosting non-true crime podcasts. He sounds cartoony or overly animated, not super serious or affected by the incident discussed. Not that he wasn't affected, it just didn't match the serious nature of the story. He kind of sounds like Zach Galifianakis.

GregGTXInterestingNice to follow and listen. I have heard no evidence that he did it on purpose. Totally on the side of his defense attorneys.

Pad0864Deadly Fortune: All Over The PlaceI agree with another reviewer who said that this series was all over the place. I didn’t need the episodes to go along in a perfectly linear fashion, but there was really no connective tissue tying subjects together that took place in different places in time.

pod chapDeadly FortuneWhat a story. A marriage twisted in every way.
-
Badash96Deadly Fortune is AMAZINGI loved deadly fortune. Great story and very interesting interviewees. I see some other reviews here saying they only listened for a few minutes and commenting on the hosts voice; I don’t think it’s bad at all. Plus, who the heck judges someone’s voice lol. Overall great story! Glad I’ve subscribed!

Miami_LoverWOW, WOW, WOW!!!Deadly Fortune is an absolute must-listen for true crime fans who crave gripping storytelling and jaw-dropping twists. The show dives deep into the lives of Tex and Diane McIver, an Atlanta power couple whose glittering facade hid a dark and tragic tale. With its perfect mix of Southern charm, courtroom drama, and shocking revelations, this podcast keeps you hooked from the first episode to the last. The hosts expertly unravel the layers of Tex and Diane's seemingly storybook marriage—his role as a cowboy lawyer and kingmaker, her as a magnetic and ambitious executive—leading to the shocking night that turned their world upside down. The questions of love, betrayal, and greed linger long after you finish listening, especially as Tex's potential inheritance of Diane’s fortune adds a chilling new dimension to the tragedy. If you’re fascinated by the intersection of wealth, power, and crime, Deadly Fortune is your next binge. It’s compelling, thought-provoking, and impossible to forget. Highly recommend!

Teon77Narrator Yikes! NooooooCant listen

ATLmamaS9 is a messI really want to listen to this season, and as an ATL local, I’m interested in the subject. But lord have mercy, Deadly Fortune badly needed some editing before publication. The story jumps around, is poorly setup, poorly edited, and Dale Cardwell is absolutely unbearable to listen to. His voice is so grating that I cannot even concentrate on the words he says. High and squeaky, and far too animated for the subject matter. Hard to believe he was a television reporter. It’s a shame because the story has a lot of potential under a better storyteller, and witness interviews are exceptionally good.

The d dawgDeadly FortuneNarrators voice is cringe. I remember when this happened and wanted to hear the podcast. While I liked the narrators personal take I can’t help but think he is slimy to benefit monetarily from his friends’ murder and murder conviction.
-
Greninja fanTired of the narratorsThe narrators voice sounds like a cartoon character. Can we just get a normal narration for once instead of crazy over exaggeration?
-
Liv1667Deadly fortuneI can’t even make it through the first episode of Deadly fortune. It bounces all over the place. The narrator jumps in with a random story that has nothing to do with the actual story. I kept thinking it was an extensive advertisement. The Narrator’s voice is quite obnoxious.

wilfulgreenAll kinds of ridiculous& ….. maybe get separation of church + state correct 😷
-
mtanner7546Not for me10 seconds into season 9… I can’t take the fake southern accent and the claim that Eatonton is “just outside of Atlanta“ is laughable.
-
anna4213Deadly Fortune…What a mess! I have never been more confused during the first episode of a podcast ever. It is ALL over the place. No basic synopsis or setup to what we are listening to, we are just immediately thrown into a rambling monologue of some random woman we later find out was right there during the shooting. But good lord, we ping pong around all over the place from the narrator being on top of a building at a failed political career, to being sort of introduced to about 20 people in a friend group, to a hellacious song by a cowboy? Like what is going on!

Basically and essentiallyGovernment is criminal mafiaI’ve listened to seasons one and eight so far and beginning season two. In spite of the poor narrative ability of the creator on season eight, it is nevertheless a compelling story of an ambitious sociopath. That said, so far all I’m hearing is federal bureaucratic overreach into private citizens’ lives and endeavors. People doing drugs and harming no one else should not be of any concern to so-called “authorities,” nor should someone fleecing people with money scams. Criminals ARE running rampant in this country, yet it is those who seek power and dominion over the common man who are at fault. We need fewer laws, not more.

TebwkahPaid for a year subscription-STILL HAS ADS!!!Podcast is well done and interesting but I don't appreciate the bait and switch. You got my $$ and I still get ads?? Bless your hearts.

LoveUU!Lady mafiaI like the story but the host changes the way she pronounces the name of protagonist (Sara) every time she says her name. It’s hard to understand her through her speech impediment and accent. It sounds like she may have a hearing impairment? Ir a really severe Boston accent? Regardless of the reason, I wish she’d stuck with a pronunciation of “Sara” and used it throughout. It’s honestly hard to listen to. Sometimes it’s like - wait, who are you talking about this time?
-
wisdom seeker momWell done! This was an interesting piece with spunky East coaster narration- love the accent of the host! Eye opening expose regarding the conspicuous consumption of the ultra rich. Helpful to be aware of cultural trends which are so financially predatory and mounting.
-
rachraeFashion IslandSara, saying your name a dumb way doesn’t make you French. I’m cracking up at Sara thinking Fashion Island is the flex she thinks it is. It’s a literal mall, guys.
-
dihart2SadStory of a Disgusting criminal with no idea of what it means to be an honest human being.
-
Tigers2016Narration is fingernails on a chalk boardTrashy Baahhhstonn accent is extremely annoying. The ONLY time it should be used would be if this was possibly a BOSTON story! Instead of trying to narrate to a group outside of her neighborhood in Boston she talks like a effeminate male Boston cop trying to act tough.

About Time for a Change!CheapHorrible people don’t always make for interesting stories.

GwesBorderlands or Lady MafiaWhy on earth am I seeing Lady Mafia in my library when I followed Borderlands? Why are people I’m sending the show to seeing Lady Mafia and have no clue why I sent that? Clean it up please!

BusyLawyerMomWifeSeason 8-Lady MafiaDisgraced attorney Sara J. King is absolute trash. As I’m listening to this season, it appears she faces 30 years in custody for her crimes. Hope she gets the max, but it seems unlikely. The fact King thought it was endearing that she took a joyride in her Dad’s luxury car and then laughed about getting out of the debt she had from opening a credit card at age 14 is repulsive. She has no respect for the law and seems to have zero sense of shame for her crimes. She is a lifelong fraudster who should not be celebrated in any way. My 2 stars are for the narrator. I love her Boston accent.
-
LavenderSPAGreat ResearchSarah is a sad example of the desperate need for attention and the spotlight , by any means: lying, fraud, stealing, risking her life. Hostess got her to be forthcoming on the show. Such a sad existence! On another note, so what she pronounces Sarah differently! Maybe Sarah told her that she likes her name pronounced that way. The show content was interesting, if you like fraud and duplicity stories.
-
missgeegee2020SaraWhy does the narrator pronounce the name “Sara” like that? 🤔
-
1socalgalJust okThe hosts butchers so many pronunciations i.e. Zarah for Sara and Jarar for Girard. She story tells like a middle schooler just all over the place and with super corny explanations, except she adds a lot of cursing to sound serious. Haha
-
Ruxandra GuidiNuanced and originalLady Mafia digs so deep into a very complex and questionable world with great nuance while still also grabbing the listener. This isn’t easy to do. Kudos to the team behind this podcast.
-
Lainey JaneLoveI love this narrator and all of his stories Listen to all of the seasons
-
mt77738MehThis is way too swayed towards Sara’s POV- it’s obvious she made some bad decisions and it’s hard to discern what is truth and what’s exaggeration.
-
VanwnbNot a good addition to true crime podcastsWith so many entertaining investigative podcasts out there, this one is flat. The writing is little better than a high school creative writing project. The host could use could use some diction coaching, she just chews words. Not engaging enough finish.
-
Nickled N. DimedPoorly told storyIt feels like this is a podcast in which the narrator is trying to make a story out of no story. Nothing happens in the first two episodes. Other than Sara being a scammer I’m not really sure why she deserves a multi-episode podcast… also, the narrating is a bit contrived and corny. Was hard to listen to.
-
Nft249Good story but…The total destruction and obliteration of the name Sara by the host is brutal to hear over and over.
-
jwav1Hard to listenVoice of narrator is difficult… hypernasal with lots messy articulation. Good story though.
-
Neuro2Completely disorganizedThis podcast is one of the worst true crime podcast. I have listened to. It’s like listening to a manic persons brain. The storyline is not clear, there’s no explanation of why an attorney was working at Nordstrom, it’s just all over the place. I felt dizzy after listening to this. You need to have a better plotline set up.
-
SMGE2794Lady mafiaHave to respect the hustle! Sara is a super interesting and flawed morally gray character. You can’t believe her but at the same time you want to. People love to root for a man who cheats the system but when it’s a woman all bets are off. Great story!!
-
It’s meeeee?Like nothing else out thereEnded up bingeing lady mafia. Im not sure why I kept listening but couldn’t stop. Sara’s a train wreck you can’t turn away from.
-
TrueCrime1010Lady mafiaBinged Lady Mafia in a day. It’s a nail biter. Kinda like uncut gems - a stressful wild ride about someone breaking bad. Wish we’d heard more from Kamran tho.
-
Spirit hawkSeason 8 - Sarah is awfulUnfortunately Sarah is such an awful human I could not listen. I found her so immediately unlikable - impossible to go further.
-
B Daddy of 2Not interesting at allLeast interesting character of all time. She is not believable and weaves a tale of obvious lies and embellishments
-
USA MknitterNight Shift (Columbia Missouri VA)Season 7; I can’t believe all of the mistakes and denials from all levels of governance and law enforcement when looking into this situation. Does it pay to be a whistleblower? Equal enforcement of the law? Very sad. Excellent investigative reporting.
-
mrynsaBorderlandloved it! how crazy was it that back then there were really no restrictions between borders. i live in El Paso so i know. good, good old times!

Christine 41@Riveting!This is an intriguing and very informative podcast with lots of detail and cliffhangers! Don't miss out on this one!

succinylcholine?Amazing storytellingI am at Episode 7 and I love the slow buildup to touch key points of the case. Additional bonus is how the son is telling his father and his colleagues’ remarkable courage. It makes me think of my dad.
-
bfrommDevil in the DitchIt feels like the only way this murder is solved in the minds of anyone in this story is ridiculous finger pointing or more ridiculous fingerpointing. These people are lawyers?! These people are police?! My goodness. It’s either the black man, or the adopted kid who, by everyone’s admission, was ostracized by the rest of the family for his entire life. At the end of the day, this police department hasn’t solved a single murder that someone didn’t walk in to the department and directly confess to on their own behalf. The evidence was destroyed, lost, or never collected, and an entire family of people just wrote off a branch over what? A comment at a party? I rolled my eyes so hard during this podcast I think I might need glasses. Presh sounded like a wonderful woman but I think she may have soaked up more than her fair share of brains in this family. Glad to hear that not all of Greenville is as small minded. Hopefully the police department will follow suit but there’s more than enough reasonable doubt of that too, even if it is less than that against Richard.
-
ChavrifybjeanfhBoringAnother podcast that has information that are completely unnecessary and is just dragging this story out to cash in on it more. We get it, you are protective over your dad, but it’s too much. He’s no saint..
