    Love it BUT.
Some of the acting scenes included in the podcast are not necessary… it gets to be a bit much and very annoying, some can be cut. Otherwise great storytelling.

    This podcast!
I agree with the review about sensory perception is a thing, and this podcast has it!
  • Hkoby22
    Love this podcast!
Definitely more sensory input on sounds, which is more intense. However I actually think it makes it more interesting to listen to. The story is told very well, you feel like you’re actually there!

    Reenactments are unbearable.
Please. The incessant nonstop bad acting and screams make me turn it off every single time before finishing an episode. It’s so awful.

    I love the reenactments!
This is different then any other crime podcast, the reenactments stand out and are pretty easy to follow.
  • MissSwim95
    Please no more reenactment noises
In general the reenactments are too long and confusing to follow (who’s who, for example), but kissing noises and eating noises really put me over the edge. Please reconsider

    Unique
I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts. And this one is different than all the others. Because of the voice acting. Keep it up.

Doesn’t translate to a podcast well
I think the reenactments work well for a tv series, but not so much a podcast.

    Worse acting
The storyline is good the actors are terrible.
  • CynicalMuch
    Re-enactments are terrible
The re-enactments are incredibly cheesy and ring as disrespectful to victims.

    Reenactments are horrendous
This podcast would be great if there was a narrator telling the story. The reenactments make it impossible to listen to.

    Corny
Good context, but the reenactments are sooo corny

    Not a fan
I think the stories are good but the terrible acting & sound affects make it hard to listen to.

    Incessant Screaming
The recreations are over the top. Listening to several straight minutes of screaming and grunting from an actress recreating being assaulted is just gratuitous. It wrecks the entire podcast.

    Skip
They should stick to just telling the stories. The re-enactments are confusing. You’ll be listening and engaged in the story, and all of a sudden some random lines come at you from an amateur voice actor in first person. This happens every 30-90 seconds. On top of that, the “background” music they choose to play is so loud you can’t hear narration or the words of the survivors. Then sometimes they just play eerie music loudly at the least appropriate moments. I listened to the first episode and couldn’t handle it. Skipped to the most recent ones and there is little improvement — still all the same issues. It’s totally disorienting. Really bad. Unfortunate because it’s a great topic.

    Why all the screaming?
Listen screaming for no reason hurts our ears. It’s a podcast. Most of us listen with headphones. TV success doesn’t translate to podcast success.

Unique take on crime story telling
I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts and what makes me LOVE this one is they have VERY talented actors playing out each story. It’s not cheesy and actually makes this way more captivating. It’s like an audio book, but with way more excitement and talent. I always anxiously await the next episode!

    feels unserious
given that these are true stories, the (melo)dramatic retelling gives me the ick.

    BEST crime show
I listen to other crime podcast! Get super excited when I receive notification of new episodes.

    Too…
…much distracting music! Difficult to hear over it! Over produced! Relax yall! Tell the story!!

    Great True Crime show
This podcast is in the top tier of crime podcasts, the production quality is unmatched. The episodes do a great job of getting content from both relatives and investigators. In addition to the interviews, they even have voice re-enactments throughout. No chatty gossiping hosts giving inane and inappropriate commentary (that the true crime genre is unfortunately RAMPANT with), just raw and bone chilling insight and context.

Reenactments take you out of it via podcast
The female actor who portrays everyone on this podcast breathes SO heavy in every reenactment in every episode. It’s disarming, triggering and overdone. Sometimes I’ve gone and listened to other podcasts cover the same case and the emotions do not match. One survivor, Brandi Hicks, said she remained extremely calm so as not to heighten her situation and help herself survive and the actor portrayed her as hysterical. Do better with these important inaccuracies for the victims?

    The audio is gut-wrenching
You feel the fear, anger & healing through the stories. I highly recommend it but be prepared to rage against the evil parts of humanity.
  • Rynners
    Gruesome unnecessary sound effects
I like the stories, but the voice acting (especially in long, drawn-out death or rape scenes) is disturbing, unnecessary, and gratuitous.

    Favorite Podcast
This is my favorite podcast out of all the podcasts I listen to! The way the stories are told makes it so enjoyable
  • MiniInigoMontoya
    Tv shows turned podcast
These are episodes from four different TV series that air on ID, so there’s a narrator and actors. This is not a typical podcast with a host/opinions, etc. I think it’s a nice break from the typical podcast format. I know the stories can be hard to listen to at times but these are real life accounts from the people involved: the victims (when possible), law enforcement, friends and family and these are heinous crimes. Some of the stories are recounted by the victim, where they detail how the fought back and survived.

    Wow and addictive

    Stories are ok, but…
The background sounds are too loud and grating. I give up.

How Could I Have Missed This Podcast?
Incredible! I have dozens and dozens of True Crime Podcasts and this one instantly became my favorite! Amazing Actors and Actresses! The well thought out Re-Inactments immediately puts you inside the scene as if you were personally there! I simply LOVE every single Epidode
  • Jochs3
    Decent
So this is a really good and immersive podcast. I love the voice actors, but sometimes it can be a bit too much.
  • Souljoi
    Awesome
I love the short detailed stories. Great listen.

    See right through you!
Pathetic and disgusting attempt to cover up black on white crime. The voice overs were white and the criminal animals were black. It’s a pathetic attempt to cover up the fact that 14-40 year old black males account for a tiny 3.5% of USA population, yet they commit well over 50% of all rapes, robberies, car jackings, attempted murders, firearm felonies, school shootings , Maas shootings, serial killings, and serial rapes! No matter how hard your disgusting true racist liberal views drive you to ignore the 800lb gorilla in the room. The facts are the facts. And the fact is that black males are locked up and govern death sentences at a much higher rate than others is because THEY COMMIT THE MOST CRIME!

A Must Listen For All Women!
If this podcast doesn’t save a substantial amount of lives then I’d be shocked. These scenarios are ones we can all relate to. We’ve all been in these same situations of going about life without a care. Mommas, your daughters need to hear these stories.

    About this new style …
I was so intrigued and trying to put my finger on it then I realized hello what’s actually going on is this is an entire new delivery and style and so far so good I really listen to A bunch of true crime and I really can’t think of another show that has this style and I love it ! They make it very balanced with the actors and so much more real. 11-28-22 This particular episode is so intense , but faith of the parents of this girl that was murdered by this man is so powerful and so special I can’t even imagine what they have been through. The man’s mother , I pray that she doesn’t blame herself for how her son turned out , but she did something that ,again , I can’t even imagine being in that situation , she was true to herself in a way that must have been so so difficult! There are some pretty amazing people in this story. Thanks for sharing the story and allowing us to help honor the girls and their lives.

    Re-Enactment is Terrible
I absolutely do not want to hear the torture, rape, and murder people go through. The screaming and cries of distress are unbearable. This could have been a great podcast if they stuck to the story telling and cut the reenactment. I wanted to hear survivors tell their stories, not bear witness to the worst moment in their lives. Skip this podcast.

    NO
Ugh—no! This sounds like a TV show being replayed in a podcast. Lots heavy breathing, scuffling, screaming without a lot of context. I think they took some Investigation Discovery episodes and just made them into podcasts. Needs more narration and less graphic sound effects. Also, other weird victim commentary that I just can’t get my head around. Not for me.
  • Curious about houses
    Great podcast
I enjoyed the story telling approach to each episode. The voice actors were very good too. In addition, these were true crime stories less covered and different than in other true crime podcasts I’ve listened to.
  • jvh70
    Disturbing
The sound effects are extremely disturbing. Not only do you include screams and desperate pleas, you repeat the disturbing sounds over and over. To what audience are you trying to appeal?
  • Audrey Oluoch
    Stop the reenactment
It is very disturbing and extremely unsettling.
  • Chris482
    Re-enactments are distasteful
I'm very interested in true crime, and have listened to many terrible cases, but these re-enactments are extremely disturbing to me. Especially the one where there were re-enactments of rape. These are real people who suffered greatly, and this podcast makes their horrific, tragic experiences out like they're fun entertainment. This is wrong and gross.
  • LuraLeigh
Great content — except for heaving breathing
I really like the show and actors but the overly dramatic and constant heaving breathing is a turn off (pardon the pun). Seriously a second or two is enough. It is not a stage.
  • BringBackMike
    Who re-enacts rape?!
How can you even be okay with the reenactment of rape. The sounds are super creepy and weird. Could have done the story without the terrible acting
  • zab2234
    way too much
the voice acting/general production is so wildly overdone that it’s hard to concentrate on the story. the stories themselves would be pretty intriguing if the delivery & production choices weren’t so incredibly obnoxious.
  • Mae Sapphire
    Awful!
This is done in extremely poor taste.
  • hellokittyy♥
I like it for the most part
So, this style of true crime is interesting. It's entertaining and the re-enactments make you feel like you're there when the crime is happening. What I don't like is they also re-enact rapes. It makes me super uncomfortable.
  • ernoh1
    Not the right format
This is apparently made up of audio from show re-enactments. So the second episode doesn’t even explain what’s actually happening, like where someone is or what’s happening, but you hear a re-enacted rape, or 30 seconds of heavy breathing. Disturbing and just really weird.
  • Pod E Mouth
    What could have been
2 minutes of silence between sentences? Cmon man! Half the episode is eerie music.
  • stewben
    Awful
Super disturbing stories it’s literally like they taped the story I was listening to as the rape/murder was happening couldn’t shut this off fast enough… disgusting….
  • r1golden234
    Wow just wow
I LOVE THIS sorta new style still TRUE crime ! May be my new fav
  • tc2538
    Awful-even for ID
This podcast is so bad. No one need 20 seconds of screaming and moaning 10x during a 30 min podcast.
