Sorkin' In It: The Films & Television of Aaron Sorkin

0

Brian and Lex may not have Sorkin’s characters’ quick wit and complicated sentence structure, but they do have an appreciation for most things Sorkin. In season one of the podcast, they review every movie Sorkin ever wrote. Season two goes episode by episode through The Newsroom. Season three takes on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

    See the WHOLE board.
Podcasts have already focused on the West Wing, but there is a viewpoint of the person who really likes Sorkin that is uncovered, until now. The motifs — or, if you are feeling nasty, the recycled plot elements — and the evolution of a writer really only come out with a broader perspective. Brian and Lex are doing the work to explore that, and I recommend you listen along (or maybe start with the back catalog if you feel about Sports Night as I do)

    Excellent listening accompaniment to chores
Washing dishes, weeding garden beds, folding towels. All go down smoother with Alex and Brian talking through a rewatch of an old favourite (Sports Night). Thanks guys.

Insightful, honest critiques from 2 fans
I stumbled across this show recently and listened to all of their episodes on The Newsroom in a couple of days before moving onto Studio 60. I plan on listening to the movie ones next before catching up on Sports Night. I don’t always agree with what Brian and Lex say, but I really enjoy their viewpoints and they provide reasonable critiques in a pithy and amusing manner. You can tell they really love Sorkin’s writing and it’s a fantastic show to listen to from 2 erudite fans.

    Insightful and in depth.
Finally, a thorough and insightful podcast, dedicated to the genius of Sorkin. These two do a great job dissecting several movies and series without being overbearing or wasteful of the listener’s time. I’m going to enjoy re-watching shows and listening to the entire podcast series.

I'm Sorking in the Greatness of the guys
I remember watching the first episode of Sports Night and falling in love with the characters and the dialog. Little did I realize that this was the start of my Aaron Sorkin obsession. I have loved all the series and like to talk about them any time I can. Unfortunately, my friends are tired of hearing me talk about Sorkin almost as much as they are tired of me talking about Springsteen. Luckily the guys on Sorkin In It, give me a chance to at least hear discussion of Aaron’s work. Thank you guys and if you ever feel like talking music, reach out to join me on my podcast!

    Entertaining Listen
Brian and Lex have a fun dynamic that makes this podcast super enjoyable. Personally, I have fun listening to the two of them banter back and forth even if I haven’t seen the show they are chatting about - they’re just that good! I highly recommend this podcast for anyone looking for an entertaining listen.

    Excellent Entertainment Value!
Great analysis and conversation, though Brian and Lex sound very similar and it can be hard to tell who is who. Keep it up!

    Rekindles my love for podcasts
I hadn’t seen many of Sorkin’s films before, and the witty banter between the hosts made it such a delight to learn more about Sorkin’s work. I plan to watch along each week, and I can already tell I’ll be so sad when it’s over.

    Fun Listen!
Lex is always fun to listen to! I’ve never heard Brian on a podcast before but he’s great too, and they’ve got great chemistry. I look forward to listening to them talk about all of Sorkin’s movies!

    Better than Serial
Not since Serial has this reviewer heard a podcast so compelling, informative, and Sorkin obsessed. The spiritual successor to The West Wing Weekly, Sorkin’ In It is a masterclass in banter-based podcasts that indulge in the subject matter rather than the cohosts.
