millwall NYCFantastico!!Great podcast. Love the detailed knowledge that these guys bring to bear. Learnt a lot of new things that I did not know about before, despite extensive reading around the subject, for example the Graze fuse. The hosts do a particularly good job of explaining the development of battlefield technology from year to year. Fellas: let’s have an episode on the naval blockade please. Not much fighting happens but it’s cited by most historians as one of the key reasons for the end of the war in 1918.

Sebastian ProutOutstanding PodcastThis is by the far the best podcast when it comes to WW1. I love listening to Dan Hill and Dr. Spencer on their knowledge of the WW1. For me this podcast mean a lot to me my favorite episode is the battle of the Somme I had four family members that fought in the Great War and one of my family member fought on the battle of Somme and survived the first day of the battle so thank you very much for talking about it truly means a lot to me. Thank you so much doing this podcast and helping me have a better understanding of this conflict and different battles on the western front and learning about the British soldiers and the officers and the events that happen. Once again thank you for doing this. From Sebastian Prout

Chunky Lover53Extremely Well DoneImpressive that two guys with such high level academic credentials can make such a fun and accessible podcast. I highly recommend Not So Quiet on the Western Front to anyone with an interest in WW1, especially if you are a fan of Carlin’s Blueprint for Armageddon. I have never joined a podcast’s patreon before but I will for this one.

Bserbino.History the way it should be toldRan across this podcast through YouTube. I’m so tired of sensationalized history that are full of opinion and speculation. These two are great storytellers that are highly educated and thorough. Such a great show I’ve listened to most of the show. Thanks for your Doughboy section. My Great-Grand Father was there. I met him once before he died about 40 years ago when I was about 8. He was 1 of 2 that survived on his platoon. I forget what he was awarded being as according to him he lied about his name and age to join but in the nursing home I recall reading the citation. He’d never spoken about it to his family until just before his death. None of them knew anything other than that he was a veteran

Col (ret)Stein US ArmyBest Podcast on WWII got to know Spencer when he taught a class here in Georgetown Tx. Then I started to listen to his and Dan’s podcast and I have learned a great deal. They are both very articulate, well informed and perhaps more importantly very easy to listen to. I teach classes on military history and military innovations and have really learned a lot from their presentations. Strongly recommend anyone with an interest in WWI or for that matter military history should put this podcast on their to hear list. Spencer and Dan keep up the great work

3JackrussellNot all Quiet on the Western Front, for sure!Recently discovered this podcast in my constant search for interesting history pods. Hit the jackpot with this one as the two hosts are pleasant to listen to and are covering some unique topics one of which was all about tunneling and mine warfare. Fascinating and I learned many formerly unknown aspects and special language such as “pit sense”, “clay kicking”, and many others. If you want to learn more about WWI on the western front, this is a show to add to your list.

Boeing B-17D "Swoose"Fascinating, enoyable-to-listen to World War One HistoryI have listened this podcast series since the beginning and can highly recommend it. The hosts are highly knowledgeable and pass on their excellent information in an easy, often humorous manner. The show seems to have a British emphasis given the background of the hosts, but, as an American, I have not found anything lacking. I like how to the hosts go into such great detail during the episodes. Indeed, the quality of podcast has led me to support it on Patreon. The podcast has greatly increased my knowledge of the First World War, the effects of which we are still living with today. It would be great if they could do a few episodes on aspects of the war at sea and fighting in the Middle East.

MonsterMileKyleAwesome PodcastThis show is absolutely fantastic. It’s exactly the type of WWI content I’ve been looking for.

AnthonySCoronaAbsolutely fantastic!I’m a little late to the party but this podcast is so well done. Great information but not just the typical talk of battles of more deep dives into smaller but incredibly important topics. The zeppelin episode has been my favorite because I learned so much. Dan and Spencer give “it’s complicated” information in a way that’s easy to understand. Appreciate this show!

AJM@MaineBest podcast of the Great WarDan and Spencer are presenting the Great War in an unbelievable format. Not since Dan Carlin has there been a podcast on this subject that I think has beef incredibly well researched and presented. My grandfather served in the CEF and fought in the 100 days. I had the extraordinary experience of walking these three battle fields with Mark Bannon this last year. I have researched the CEF as I write a historical novel on the immigrants to Canada who joined the call to serve. So, in hearing the early podcast bringing the high level attention to the efforts of the BEF in their great battles, I was struck by the incredible authenticity that Spencer and Dan bring to the subject. I wait each week with great anticipation to find the next chapter in this incredible series. These boys “are in the pink”. Well done!!!

DerrickusMaximusSolid podcast!Really enjoying it- there’s plenty of great info & discussion for the WWI military history enthusiast, but it doesn’t get bogged down with “insider baseball”- someone new to the study of the Great War will definitely get a lot out of this.
