dissapointed deadheadBest Zen podcast aroundRev. Weik is the real deal.

funky-buttonDeep Wisdom, Friendly StyleSome contemporary Buddhist teachers emphasize the psychological benefits of practice. This teacher goes deeper, encouraging his audience to access and align themselves with a perfection beyond knowing. He is super chill, too.

Cek SamThe Heart of the Matter!Rev. Rinsen is a truly authentic teacher. He has a way of blending the old poetic and often cryptic teachings with a contemporary and fresh delivery. If you're looking for the heart of Zen, here it is!

GothicsmurfTruly InsightfulIt is almost unbelievable how each and every podcast is filled with such vibrant insight. Jay Rinsen Chikyo Weik speaks honestly about the life of zen, and is such an inspiration that I'd like him to know how much he resonates with me here in NYC. Thank you Jay.

PadreMontoyaZen in plain EnglishI can't say enough good things about this podcast. Jay breaks things down in a very clear, understandable, an often funny way. At least, as clear as Zen can be.

<3 to liveSimply simpleI love this pod cast. I listen to it at work and it is wonderful. Whether you are new to Zen or practiced, you will enjoy this podcast immensely!

flydi007Incredibly TransformationalMy interest in Zen Buddhism started a couple of years ago when I began meditation as a practice to help with bi-polar disorder. The profound effect that had on me inspired me to look further. I happened upon The Drinking Gourd podcasts only a few months ago, but I feel as though I have struck a gold mine. Reverends Rinsen and Do'an have a way of teaching Zen Buddhism that is easy and understandable. Each podcast I listen to seems as though it was recorded just for me - all of the lessons apply to my own life and situation. I love that it's straightforward, direct, and not filled with any extraneous "fluff." The Drinking Gourd podcasts have truly had a profound impact on my life. I only wish I lived in Toledo so I could practice with the wonderful Reverends and sangha at the Toledo Zen Center! Keep up the great work!

CinderellaManJJA great supplement to the practice of ZenThis excellent podcast is an easy way to bring the Dharma into your daily practice. Very accessible and thought provoking. I have come to look forward to my long drives to work as a special time to contemplate the teachings offered by Rinsen and Do'an and the members of this Sangha.

WokarmaWonderful and consistantJay has an amazing ability to break concepts/ideas/intellectual constructs down to the basics, giving everyday application to something I could very easily just use to occupy space in my head. This podcast doesn't just lay out the sutras or break down the noble truths - it does so in a way that leaves me smiling in agreement. As if I knew it before he said it, but didn't realize i did it until he spoke. Confused? Give one episode a shot and hopefully you will see what i mean.

NorthOfSuperiorVery accessible and simpleThese are probably the most accessible Zen dharma talks I have encountered. Weik's ability to simplify with easily understood similes and examples lead to understanding of teachings and ideas that often have seemed dense and complex. I'm always struck at how down to earth yet profound Weik is as a teacher.

eyeofDaliInspiringI stumbled upon this podcast while seeking related topics. I have been listening for about a month and enjoy every minute of them. I have been inspired and encouraged, and concepts have been illuminated. I enjoy the pace and humor. I sense that I will listen for a long time (and practice). I was elated last week when my young son's class sang "The Drinking Gourd" in their Spring Concert. It seemed that there was synchronicity at play here. I took the opportunity to explain a few things to him and have him listen to this version of the song. Keep up the delightful work, and thank you!

Tross4Enlightening!I've been listening to these quality podcasts for about a month now, and I feel that hearing the dahrma talks helps me stay closer to the practice. Im a student so I am running from place to place all day, so its nice because I can listen to the ancient wisdom of Zen and the teaching of mindfulness throughout the day as a reminder to stay with the practice. Highly recommended!!

AniOutfreakageA beautiful moment in timeThis is a beautifully produced, nicely paced program of Zen practice that provides an opportunity for people not fortunate to have a zendo nearby to benefit from a funny, thoughtful, disciplined teacher. I've listened to these lessons repeatedly, and each time something new will resonate with me. I've recommended The Drinking Gourd to all my friends who have expressed a curiosity in Zen and Buddhism, though I think all spiritual paths can benefit from what is being taught here.
