TStadelmannNew film lensesNate & Ryan have been deftly blowing minds for 100 episodes already & over time have helped me see many many movies through a different lens If you haven’t tuned in yet you won’t regret it. They’ve changed my mind on a number of movies and even broader topics Buckle up & give it time. These two will help you see differently

Pippin150One of my favorite podcasts everLucid, intelligent conversations about film. Both hosts are smart and knowledgeable and really dig into what makes movies work emotionally. The opinions feel honest and informed and they delve into the political aspects of movies as well. If I have a criticism, it’s that I wish Ryan and Nate covered more arthouse cinema. I’d love to hear them talk about Blue Velvet or Tokyo Story or Persona, but I recognize that I am not the sole audience for this podcast and they probably attract more listeners by watching more mainstream features which is totally understandable. 5 stars!

paulafergLike Hanging with FriendsI randomly happened upon this podcast, and am so glad I did! I really appreciate how this feels like you are just hanging out with two of your own friends discussing movies. I end each episode with a deeper appreciation or a newfound perspective of the movie being debated. Really enjoy this podcast!

aliciakenworthySuch a gemThere aren’t many podcasts that could make me want, even for a second, to rewatch “Tree of Life” but here I am re-watching the trailer and seriously reconsidering. How *does* one develop grace? Ryan and Nate are both so thoughtful and their conversations are thought-provoking. Excited to see where the new format takes them.

manbrarianGood stuffMy favorite movie podcast! The Stand By Me, Can’t Hardly Wait, and 10 Things I hate about you episodes are fantastic. Great podcast! I’ve enjoyed every episode I’ve listened to.

DarkCrystal34Wow...this podcast was a real find!!!This is some of the most intelligent, well-informed, interesting and fun conversations about film on a podcast I have heard. Love these guys, is now in my regular rotation. Am an avid Filmspotting listener and listen to a number of other major films ones (/Film, FIlm Sack, Projection Boothe, Film Junk, Battleship Pretension)...I'd put Can We Still Be Friends? in my top 3 film podcasts. Kudos guys keep up the great work!

MissyFlipsFunny and insightfulThe right mix of serious, sarcastic, and self-deprecating. Listening to this podcast is like hanging out with smart friends who are also pretty die-hard film nerds. The interesting angle to this podcast is that they back at older films they disagreed about in the past and how they respond now. Very insightful.

Justin SwansonEnjoyable Discussion of a Variety of FilmsRyan and Nate offer a fresh and insightful take on films from across a variety of genres. Sometimes they agree, sometimes they disagree, but it's always fun to listen in on their conversations. They are also very responsive on their social media platforms, so it's easy to feel like you are a part of the conversation.

The Modern OxBetter than plain oats!Much like working out with a trainer or a group increases actual time worked out and gets better results, watching and thinking about movies along with Nate & Ryan exercises the brain & culture muscles more effectively than viewing & digesting alone.

VulgarPhilI like moviesHey! These guys are great if you like dudes being dudes talking about movies with dudes and dudettes in them. I hate most things, but I don't hate this thing. In fact, I don't hate it a lot.

PostConsumerChrisThese guys know and love filmI love hearing these guys get into debates, and they’re even fun to listen to when they agree. I particularly like it when I disagree with them. A highlight episode is when they discussed A Christmas Story, which is bound to make everyone made in some way, whether you like the movie or not. In some ways it’s fun to have imaginary debates with them as I listen. Besides all that, these guys love film and they’ve seen a lot of it. And there’s always something to learn from them. Enjoy.

thoughtsfromthetopDraws you inI can't remember how I stumbled upon this podcast, but as soon as I heard one episode, I wanted to hear them all. I think the hosts have a great, intelligent banter and always share interesting details I may have missed in watching the movies myself. I highly recommend this podcast and always look forward to the next episode!

benkroghThis isn’t a TV & Film Podcast...It’s way more. I wrote five different reviews and deleted them all because I wasn’t able to fully encapsulate what I like about this podcast in a simple way. The hosts are intelligent and likable, the discussion is genuine, and you’ll come away from it thinking about things you never expected to be processing. It’s good, take a listen.

thediscfanListen and enjoy! The hosts of this podcast continually take a superficial analysis of these movies and move towards great depth. Their Tarantino episode did it brilliantly and their recent Hook one went further still. Thank you, good sirs!

K. GlenApt, Dynamic, Entertaining5/5 Content: The creators have picked a great range of films for discussion, tie topics together with what is current, and honor the context of the past. Their concept about explicating their differences makes for great, flavorful perspective. The discussion flows from their interests, and they are above average when it comes to cinematic/screenwriting terminology, but they don’t flaunt the technical terms and they are respectfully modest about name dropping. Great personality and interesting observations. Not overly serious. Not overly sarcastic. Enjoyable. 5/5 Production Value: the editing and writing is professional and smart. This podcast keeps a good pace, its segments are fluid. Great work on their part with tying together their podcast with their website, twitter, blog, and phone-in option. The potential for audience participation makes podcasting a delight.

WartsbaughInsightful, charitable, and funnyAs a movie-goer listening to two film-goers, I often find myself learning from the insights offered by Nate and Ryan in their discussions. They point to many aspects of film that I, a Philistine, would never have thought either to celebrate or condemn. The hosts are discussing opinions of films that are very close to their hearts, whether they hold a fond or a hateful place, and so their comments are well thought out and meaningful. But despite that, both maintain an air of charity toward the other's opinion. In discussing the films they discuss their initial reactions from the first time viewing a film, then their new thoughts based on re-watching it. In these thoughts, they reveal a willingness to change their long-held opinions that is very refreshing after so many experiences of discussions on film being simply dogmatic acclaim or vitriol. On top of this, Nate and Ryan are also quite funny. I have laughed out loud several times in each episode. While listening alone. It's that good. My best recommendation is that their podcast actually makes me interested in film rather than movies in a way that no other discussion has.

SusieBoomGreat new film discussionI enjoy this new film discussion podcast. The hosts are likable "know-it-alls." The robust discussion engages me to the point I want to respond to points in real time. The first episodes are so well done (sharp sound, good topics, well-supported opinions) that I'm sure future episodes will be as good or better!

A.W. MilamConsider, Apprehend, EngageWhile the question seems appropriate the answer could be believable when the dialogue is genuine and the words dribble from seemingly uninterrupted airwaves. You do not need to agree but believe and behold for when you inhale the swells overwhelm and thoughts emerge. Listen . . . become informed . . . believe.
