    Good tech news podcast
Kevin & Casey tackle important issues, and mostly keep things lighthearted but aren’t shy about expressing strong opinions when they have them. Most of the jokes are funny.
  • Anuki Asher
Informative but not funny at all
I enjoy this podcast for the most part. But when these nerds make ‘jokes’ —which they try to do constantly— I want to throttle them. 🤷🏾‍♂️ Unfunny people shouldn’t try to be funny. It is painful.

Lost all respect for this podcast
This podcast really went downhill. I listened for tech news and interesting interviews. But these hosts have their own agenda and they don’t care about any views which are not theirs. Examples are the interview with Safe Street Rebels and the interview with Karen Hao. It’s increasingly obvious that these hosts care nothing for the environmental impact of tech. They just want funny little tools that help them do the mundane tasks they can’t be bothered with. I hit my limit with the DOGE interview. It was a bunch of nonsense. I unsubscribed. Good riddance.

    Topical and funny!
Kevin and Casey, thanks for making us laugh as we walk into the techpocalypse. You strike the right balance between curiosity and passion for tech with a wry skepticism of its worst excesses. Your recent chat with an ex-DOGEr was an excellent case in point. Thanks for being open to all perspectives but also asking incisive questions that bring out their unvarnished world view

    Endlessly entertaining!
And informative. For anyone who wants up-to-date information on the IT industry and how it interacts with the rest of us. These guys are fabulous together! My favorite podcast every week.

    Political Partisans Talking Tech
The political partisanship is (D)etracting from the tech talk which is much more interesting.

Trying too hard to be lighthearted.
Too surface and jokey. Like the interview with the DOGE decoder. A few times he mentioned his concern about the unempathetic nature of the work, but not once did either host asked him more specifically what he meant by that. Instead they seem to want to just stick to superficial story lines. Don’t be so afraid to dig a tiny bit deeper!

    Get another voice on here
It would be nice to hear a woman on here. The two male hosts are okay, but I want diversity.

    Garbage
I listened to the episode with Karen Hao and she was fantastic. You two apes are prime examples that not everyone needs a podcast. Do better!

    Great podcast
Great podcast for all levels with awesome insight on the pulse of AI and tech.
  • NathancW7
    well done, unserious
More accessible because it is unserious, and unpretentious. I get the sense that the hosts, through knowing the right people, and luck have been spectators to tech companies, which they then deliver to us what they are observing. Basking in reflective glory, this show is part tech boosterism with a sprinkling of critiques. sans any critical thought

Lazy reporting focused only on OpenAI and Anthropic
Much more happening in AI space than OpenAI and Anthropic. Lazy reporting. No coverage of AI tool builders that are on a mission to make post-labor economies a real concern. No substance to this pod, doesn’t provide people with landscape news or trends they can use. May lull listeners into false sense of security covering such a narrow band of topics, blue sky topics, rather than the real economic disruption that’s happening now and will impact all sectors and job prospects in the next 1-2 years. We should be preparing for a post-labor economy now, and there is no reporting here to indicate this is the case.

    Marketing for AI startups
I used to listen for their non-AI tech news, but now I can’t even trust them for that. At this point they’re just regurgitating marketing with no journalism or analysis of the actual capabilities, business, or limitations. Check out Ed Zitrons critique of them.
  • Professional friend
Too accepting of AI business leaders’ claims
Not enough pushback. But still enjoy tech news roundups.

    Hilarious and Informative
This show is so funny, Kevin and Casey make a great team.

    NYT Weekly Tech Glaze Fest
Been listening since the beginning of this show and have always appreciated the two hosts good humor. But I just don’t think these hosts get outside of their bubble nearly enough. Kevin did an excellent podcast a few years back called Rabbit Hole that documented the real world effects that tech has on people’s lives. That was a much better angle on tech in my opinion. Every once in a while these guys will pose hard questions or broach a tough subject but just not often enough anymore imo. Many people (including myself) are angry at the carelessness of tech execs and do not trust them. If you feel that way then this podcast won’t offer you much.

    essential
i am a busy 22 year old and this podcast helps me stay updated on the technologies that will define my future. hearing nuanced, down to earth conversation about the existential issues AI poses is weirdly comforting! everyone needs to be taking the realities of AI seriously and listening to this podcast is an efficient way to stay engaged.

    Used to Love It
I’ve been listening to this show since it first started, and it was consistently one of my favorites. Unfortunately Kevin Rose has apparently been red pilled - the most recent apologist stance for Signal-gate was my last straw. I’ve unfollowed and I’m out for good - Casey is more grounded but that’s not worth much if you aren’t willing to speak out against the obvious nonsense being spouted.
  • airplainchild
Content is amazing, but one of the hosts needs to see an otolaryngologist.
I really love these podcasts, but something about Casey sounding like the quintessential nerd from the 80s with phlegm in his sinuses just drives me nuts.

    AI Shills
“Uhhh I basically want AI to do my job for me even as I acknowledge that it diminishes my critical reasoning. Uhhh just have an editor tell me what to do, say, and write? Uhhh, I end statements in an inflection that sounds like a question?” Give me a break. How can you idiots think any loss of critical reasoning is good. They should have AI do your jobs, it would be about as grammatically correct and pointless.

    .75
Was getting anxious listening. Figured it was just the subject matter. Oy vey. Then put it on .75 speed and felt so much better right away. 10/0 highly recommend. Love you guys.

    Favorite podcast in my queue!

    Meh
Would be so much better without Casey who talks too much, cuts off people, and is very annoying making it sound childish.

    The Vergecast but boring
Lame and annoying, from the programming on down.

    Bias + immaturity = Exhausting
There are so many interesting topics and perspectives on this podcast, yet the immaturity and political bias (which is extreme) is exhausting. Have listened to many episodes over the past few months and want to like it, but geez I just can’t do it any longer.

    Fascinating and Informative
By far one of the podcast I listen to. It contains thoughtful and informative discussions exploring the various issues and broader technological trends of the current era.

    Disappointing
I just can’t support padding the truth. I wish I didn’t donate to NYT today after hearing this.
  • Duckycheeseis
    Eh…
As a programmer and tech dude myself, It sounds more politics than ACUAL ai. It’s ok.
  • AMRob4
    It’s ok
I found it hard to listen to this as the conversations lacked maturity.

    On point
Someone else submitted the perfect review I need to echo: this show fills a hole where Car Talk once did. I listen every Saturday morning. It’s a delightful romp through the latest tech news, making it accessible and super fun. And it’s appropriately balanced — both skeptical of tech companies, and excited about tech itself. Highly recommend!

    The best of NYT
Sith apologies to Ezra and other brand name peeps, this is the best that NYT audio has to offer! No one ese offers information and analysis with genuine banter better so well. I only wish they talked about an even wider range of topics but that’s a compliment not a complaint.
  • M.F.Z.
    Screeching podcaster
The content of this podcast is good but one of the podcasters (Jordan) has the most annoying voice possible. It’s nails on a chalkboard. Screeching and loud and makes this podcast impossible to listen to.
  • Sodbusterr
    Not a serious show
Shenanigans gaslighting as journalism. Would be cool to learn anything about the tech industry.

    The best tech podcast
Everything I need to know about tech I learn on Hard Fork. It doesn’t hurt that the rapport between Casey and Kevin is so hilarious I find myself laughing out loud multiple times an episode.
  • ophiesay
    One of my top 3
Very tech centric, Silicon Valley centric, so it could be dry and bro-y like a lot of the VC, AI podcasts that a little or a lot self-absorbed. Hard fork is NOT that; yes it is nerdy but the storytelling is fantastic and the banter between the hosts is warm and funny. I love this podcast as it is both informative, timely, well-produced, funny and not self-absorbed

    Far Left Show
I looked forward to listening to this podcast. As opposed to hearing the ever changing and advancement of technology, it was a show of leftist ideas. If you vote blue this is probably a show you could agree with. If you vote red, you won’t like it.
  • AJ travels
    Love this podcast
I look forward to hearing this podcast every week! Kevin and Casey’s intelligence, wit and humor are such a pleasure; they’re not only educating me on the latest in tech, but making me laugh while doing so! Thanks you guys!
  • evanseesred
Tech with a heavy dose of slant.
“When you hear the phrase classical liberal, it’s code for someone who’s gone Republican” Um, no. It’s not. While I love this podcast for its helpful and humorous insight into the world of tech, the complete bias of the shows hosts and, frankly, the dishonesty is starting to become too much. I am one of those “classical liberals” this show derides (which essentially means we believe in gender and racial equality but not at the exclusion of all other progressive values, as tends to be the case under the new liberal doctrine)…i think this show is going to be missing a lot of the story if it decides every person who doesn’t think exactly as they do on the most fringe of issues has been red pilled.

Hard Fork towards hard left tech politics… more and more finding this podcast less interesting.

    Needs a bigger picture
Having listened off and on for a long time I am disappointed that there doesn't seem to be much focus on what looks like a tech oligarchy taking shape in the US. Maybe I am missing those references. The year-end discussion about Threads vs X barely mentions Bluesky, where people are trying to move away from a lot of the musk-zuck decisions that have been so destructive to democracy. Where will that kind of discussion be?
  • Jeffm1961
Entertaining, up to date, and informative, oh my!
I really love Hard Fork! Casey and Kevin have great rapport, keep me laughing (12 days of Hard Fork was classic!) and give a serious read of tech: they have well-reasoned perspectives and are neither fanboys nor neo-luddites. Plus they get a lot of A-list guests from the tech industry. As someone involved in Big Tech and GenAI myself, I think they’re doing a fantastic job covering the latest with an unmatched !combo of fun and information
  • muzician101
    really want to like it
the hosts are SO charismatic, and it’s moderately informative, but it’s also quite superficial. when they address controversies, they typically accept the corporate/marketing party line with little to no pushback or follow-up. they are very blasé about most serious issues, and i wish they would use the laughs and charisma to dig deeper with their guests. not the heavy-hitting serious journalism you’d expect from the new york times.
  • AmitPodcast
    Hilarious and informative
Love the podcasters banter. They strike a good balance between liking their subject matter (technology) and being skeptical of their claims. Highly recommend
  • Dauber
    Informative & entertaining
This is the one podcast. I listened to every week without fail. The topics are timely. The hosts are entertaining and have a great rapport, and they get great access given their positions. It’s not too heavy and it’s typically upbeat, which I enjoy in mainstream media. Plus their holiday carol is hilarious.
