    Good advice!
I’m totally caught up on all episodes. Like Lindsay C Gibson books, but in a modern/podcast format. I have gotten great advice, book recommendations and good quotes from listening to this.

Please use segue for Ad breaks
Great info. Insightful and helpful. The ad breaks are inserted SO bizarrely with no notice. Guest asked a question and the response was about Redfin? This is very confusing. Just insert a quick “guys, be back after this quick break.” Please!

    The Podcast I Needed
I found this podcast yesterday and I’ve already listened to nine or ten episodes. A few years ago I initiated estrangement from my family without having the vocabulary to describe it or any awareness of its rising commonality. I wish I had had a resource like this to help cope with such a shocking and lonely experience. Most estrangement content out there lingers on themes of an abusive past or traumatic childhood, which is not my experience. This is the first podcast I have found that focuses on the other, more nuanced drivers of estrangement that are actually way more common. Estrangement does not always or even usually indicate some ghastly mistreatment in childhood; it’s about a relationship between adults that’s not working in the present. Eventually my parents got therapy and improved enough to make strides toward reconciliation, but I wasn’t ready to move at their pace. Immediately there was backsliding, confirming my fears, and a form of semi-estrangement has resumed. This podcast has already helped me to reframe much of what happened, especially the uneven efforts at healing. It has helped me contextualize my family’s conduct, and also given me insight into aspects of my own behavior that I had not fully considered. Honestly, I feel like a lot of this content would be helpful even for families who are not estranged. Understanding the dynamics that lead to loss of contact might prevent the rift in the first place. I can’t recommend this enough.

Like, right,so,like, you know, right, so… UGH
I’m researching podcasters as I write my third book. It is impossible to listen to these people and take them seriously. The host sounds nice but her inability to speak without using filler words is enough to make you hurl. This guest is obnoxious with her whining voice, vulgar language, like you know, so, right? I’m sure they will consider this a personal attack because like you know they think they are so you know like smart and like you know balanced? As well, these podcasters are too full of themselves. Someone needs to let them know like so…. Just because someone does not do or say…. What they think is healthy …. Does not mean that they do not understand . Therapists …. Appear not to grasp not to be able to understand that sometimes…. Wait for it….. sometimes they SIMPLY disagree. Often they are self absorbed and mirroring to the people they LABEL. A parent is not always immature a person is not always gas lighting…balanced people do not live in their heads and are not always in conflict and are not always concerned about boundaries diagnosis’s and on and on. Guess what? They just LIVE. It’s absolutely mind boggling how many issues they create. Oh brother Podcasters equal drama drama drama, exhausting to just listen to. Try and keep up keep up.

    Adult Sibling Relationships
This is the first time I’ve heard about triangulation between siblings relationships and a parents and how unhelpful it is. I’ve had this problem from a while and I think this episode was the most helpful in understanding and analyzing my familial relationships. I appreciate y’all explaining how what is considered taboo isn’t always the right thing to do.

    Blended families
No Chris was there first. And his father made a promise. The stepmother is only thinking of herself and the father is going to have to be a man of his word. Plain and simple father has to stand up and do what is right. In response to 03/26/25 episode

    Validation
Ok Whitney is bringing forward and validating so many complex issues around family dysfunction and estrangement and toxic abuse! I found this very validating. This podcast is solid straight forward information that will assist you on your path towards healing and recovery. Family is beyond weird - revisiting stuck and obligated old roles and returning to family members unwilling or incapable of validating or supporting you is so damaging, and this podcast is a balm of comfort. Thank you Whitney!

I’ve been waiting so long for this!
I’ve been following Whitney on instagram and Tik Tok for a long time and I am so excited she has entered the podcast space. I’ve been trying to cut back on my social media time and was worried about missing out on information that comes from accounts like hers. Now I can take in her wisdom without feeling like I’m stuck in a scrolling loop! I love that Whitney is taking the opportunity to bring in other experts as well as answering calls herself. She does such important work and has so much compassion. Sometimes it’s hard to hear other perspectives, especially when it’s a subject I relate closely with, but I know that her advice has made me a better friend, partner, daughter, and sibling. I can’t wait to see where this podcasts goes!

My go-to! Love her style, approach and messaging
I’ve been following Whitney since her start (through her social media, books, etc.) Since then, I have been amazed at how practical, relatable and honest her advice is and approach to various issues, primarily as it relates to parenthood and family matters. Her messages are always transparent and to the point and her overall style of “therapy” is warm but direct, brutally honest but welcoming and serious with a side of levity. So happy she decided to launch a podcast! Cannot wait to see what is to come.
