AtulSofatKiperWow great pod w Mel! One of your best!

DocLouIowaMel.Excellent interview. I have been a fan of Mel since he became famous. We we attended the same high school, but he was two years older so I never talked to him. he’s one of our most famous alumni. He is the epitome of a self made man who created his own industry.

dorsey16It’s fun so what else can you ask for.Long time listener. First time rater. But I’ve grown to be a big fan. I was a fan of the first version and worried Traina was not going to hold my interest but he won me over. Good guests and he is a great interviewer. Gives his guest room to talk and go deep but at the same asks the right questions and not the cookie cutter questions. And you can tell the guests like him and respect him.

Jimmy’s NiecesJimmy’s NiecesLove how Jimmy meets his niece at a restaurant for lunch on a Saturday and brings his iPad so he can watch sports. Whole experience is ruined because the streaming would not work. Did the niece have a good time?

Jmg1403Love Sal but…….He really needs to get a deeper knowledge of some sports outside of Mets and the NFL. I have 2 young girls and still have time to have knowledge and more importantly, an interest in other sports (namely college fball and basketball). I am from the philly area without a natural affiliation w a school, however, i like SPORTS. Sal hosts an afternoon show at the biggest station in the country and has a seemingly very narrow interest in sports. It seems odd….

Garry VWWE on A&EWatching an episode of WWE’s Greatest Moments on A&E and I see Brandon Tierney as one of the talking heads. Seriously?! They might as well have asked Deitsch to mumble through a boring anecdote. Can we please get Jimmy and Sal on these shows already?!! Get Triple H on the horn and make it happen. Love the show. Jimmy, stop coughing! Sal, thanks for representing us married dopes and the advanced calculations we have to make to watch sports every weekend.

mattmanfanAll mailbag edition was greatI really enjoyed your recent all mailbag podcast as I think that you should do it more often maybe at least once a month. I am still wondering if you will have anyone NASCAR related on soon since the season just started recently back in mid February.
-
Adriandc4lDo your researchJimmy, FOX didn’t send Joe Davis to Tokyo because he was already there calling the game on the Dodgers network. 26 million people watched the opening game in Japan. Do you believe this many people watch the game if it’s played in the States? This event was for Japan, it should be prime time for them. 1 STAR!!!!

Brad T4Adam Zucker and RafteryHey Jimmy. Love the pod. Great interview with zucker. I thought you were going to go crazy when you found out he went to raftery’s broadcaster camp. The stories from other guests about bill are awesome. Didn’t know how much people love him, how fun he is outside of basketball, and how much influence he’s had on so many in the media. does anyone know why/what he’s saying at the beginning of each game? Always has some random gibbrish.

JoeyG__NJGreat podcastLove the podcast. Traina Thoughts with Sal is the best part of every podcast. Less wrestling. We also need Sal’s wife on at least once a year. My only pet peeve is when Jimmy asks a question, then he asks a second, third, fourth, and even fifth question before the guest can even answer. Recent example. “Did you love doing the selection show last year? Was it fun? Was it a rush? Was it challenging? Was it difficult? ….What were the emotions and reaction to it?”
-
EricInOrlandoDon’t PassI grew up in NJ so I share some of Jimmy’s sensibilities. Until Jimmy says he plays the “Don’t Pass/Don’t Come” line. I thought he was a man of the people. He’s a man apart. Four stars going forward.

JoebigbatsofdoughnutsThe best there is, the best there was, the best there ever will be.Traina is an excellent interviewer, always making it an easy conversation to digest and enjoy. Him and Sal talking through every day life adventures is always a smile and laugh waiting to happen. Pod is awesome, but for the love of god can we make the traina thoughts article more digestible? I want to read it every time but it’s just one glitchy ad after glitchy ad. Keep up the great work.
-
amyrchapmanGreat pod - love Sal and JimmyA few things for you guys - Sal, who are your favorite Mets broadcasters (historically and currently) and any other Mets stuff you can mention - I love the Mets but live outside of the NYC area. Jimmy, more baseball content please! Also, I’m a big fan of Richard Deitsch and enjoy the interplay between the two of you (I think he described it with the wrestling term that he plays the heel when you guys are on together).
-
Agrippa13GreatIt’s great if you’re five and like wresting. Or if you like listening to people talk about their betting habit. Otherwise it’s good.
-
BstoolerBilas and MJFGreat show! I didn’t care much for Bilas before your interview and I came away impressed. I had never heard of MJF before and I hope to never hear the name again-tough interview and you did good to put lipstick on a pig
-
Pagosa HeavenBest PodGreat job as always Jimmy. Love your enthusiasm. If I could ask for one improvement to make it easier for us listeners it would be to get your guests to use better microphones. Dan Rapaport sounded like he was using a tin can. Could not figure out half of what he said. I know, very hard to make changes. Please do what you can. Thx!

PsyknowOne of Life’s Simple PleasuresAs a listener of multiple sports podcasts each week, I’m a big fan of this one — and of Jimmy Traina himself. He seems completely authentic and down to earth. Listening to his takes in conversation with his many esteemed guests in sports media is not unlike interacting with a knowledgeable, passionate sports fan who ALSO happens to be a humble, well-adjusted person. (That combination does not often happen in the natural world!) If there were ever a labor union that was somehow devoted to the concerns of American sports fans, Traina would be my candidate to lead it. As I see it, he understands and represents our interests, tastes, and hang-ups better than any other public person I know of. Lastly, if there’s a well-known personality in the sports broadcasting world, they will eventually sit down for an interview with Traina, and they usually seem to enjoy the conversation. Ditto for me each and every time.

bluebear_21Post Articles to Bluesky & Convince My Fiancé to Go To NYLove the pod. Listen every week. The segments with Sal are outstanding. Definitely agree that Sal’s wife needs to make an appearance at least once on the pod. Two things: 1) can you post your Traina Thoughts articles to Bluesky? I’m off the other site and not great about going directly to SI.com. 2) can you two New Yorkers give my fiancé a sales pitch on coming to NY in late spring/early summer from Northern California. She’s never been and I’m trying to convince her. A Maureen’s mention would also be appreciated! Thanks keep doing what you’re doing.

Larry in Ohio2nd reviewJimmy - I very much enjoy your show. I look forward to it every week. Great guests and a lot of fun. I’m not a wrestling fan but just skip through those parts. No problem. A couple of issues; 2) love the segments wi Sal. Love them. But SSL , enough with the bad language. You’re not tough. Not at all. It makes you sound bad. 2). Let Deitch have his show. When he’s on he’s constantly trying to one-up with you. Constantly dropping names. I listen to his podcast. Let him have it. Again, looking forward to the next podcast. A real great listen.

Janz0830A Dave Meltzer approved 5 star rated podcastBig fan of the podcast, ESPECIALLY the WWE guests. I was wondering. Have you listened to the Talking Sopranos Podcast? It’s with Michael Imperioli and Steve Schirripa. It’s well done and as an avid fan of the Sopranos, I thought you’d enjoy it. I listen every Thursday morning as soon as the pod drops. Keep the stellar guests coming and I will continue to give 5 star reviews!! Peace and love..peace and love
-
MopsauceAlways entertainingLook forward to every week and banter with Sal. Can you spell Dan’s last name right in the recent show title?
-
sg murthyLove the podSorry wanted to add 1 thing about Brady. I feel Brady isn’t just a natural on TV. Some people are not great on TV and I feel he doesn’t have the charm the other announcers have. I agree he’s overall fine but nothing great
-
ec1605Great ShowJimmy. Do you ever find yourself reaching for the phone when you do the betting commercials?!?!?
-
mbuonomo1Great guests, better banter@motioncityman Twitter Jimmy always has great guests week after week. Not a fan of wrestling but enjoyed this week with Seth Rollins. One thing that made me fall out of my chair was when Jimmy was talking to Seth about the Royal Rumble and Seth mentioned betting favorites in Vegas. I understand the whole “wrestling is fake” is played out, but please don’t tell me you can place wagers on scripted events! Keep the up the great work, a once a month all Traina Thoughts with Sal would be top notch
-
Entei123Love your showLove your show, listen religiously every week. You keep mentioning that the Super Bowl is not a real game and that the season ends with the championship games. I know that the Super Bowl is a lot of hype but once the game starts isn’t it like any other game that both teams want to win? Might as well enjoy it since it’s the last time you’ll be watching a football ball game for a while
-
Big Mac 0623The best sports media podcast (maybe the best podcast)Been listening to the podcast for the last few years and I have to say it has become a real highlight of my Thursday mornings! Love how Jimmy makes the “interviews” seem more like conversations. Really likes how he has a mixer of sports media personalities, and sports media insiders. I really like the weekly segment with Sal. For a Boston sports fan the segment is the perfect taste of New York sports talk radio. My favorite part is when the guys complain about events getting in the way of their football watching. It’s gonna be content gold when Sal‘s kid start having events on Sunday afternoons in the fall (i.e dance recitals and sporting events). The complaining is gonna be off the charts and I can’t wait. Keep up the good work gentlemen
-
Marmar_lifegreat listeni am a 54 year old who grew up with imus in the morning and mike and the maddog still listen to russo regularly the only podcast i listened to was mike francesca i stumbled upon this and now listen every week love when russo or ian eagle is on i wasnt a big fan of sal licatta tried giving him and brandon tierney a listen but found them irritating but i have to admit he’s great when hes on with you love the podcast and how you make the guests open up

Adam in CarolinaIndustry Pro Loves Jimmy and SalI’ve been in sports television more than two decades and this is by quite a bit the best sports media podcast on the planet. I love Jimmy’s personable, affable nature and more importantly so do his A-List guests! I’m SUPER Southern and love Traina thoughts because it’s so different from anything else we get down here. Keep up the great work, Jimmy. You .. are the voice of the fan.
-
paulsollyRecommended booksLoved the Michael Richard’s book, just finished the Henry Winkler and starting the Ed Zwick, per episode with Shrags and Perloff.
-
Redsoxrule15-02ADBLove the Pod. Guests are always timely and entertaining. Would love to see you have Bill Raftery on during basketball season. Thanks for carving out separate wrestling guests into their own pod - saves me the trouble of advancing through them to get to the session with Sal.
-
Aroj18Can’t Wait for Thursday!Has become one of my two favorite podcasts despite the fact Jimmy and Sal love the NY teams as I am a Boston guy! Awesome guests, and Jimmy knows how to ask the right questions. Can’t wait for the Sal segment, sounds a lot like hanging out with your best friend or brothers. Keep up the awesome work!
-
Ross MacLochnessThe Jerk Store Called…They want to sponsor your podcast every time Richard Deitsch is a guest. Keep up the amazing run of great shows.
-
MJJKnicksGiantsYankeesMedia critics are my favoriteBest episodes are the ones with fellow media writers! I love the analysis of announcers analysts.
-
Mike Mac27Great PodOne of my favorite podcasts for years, I use to complain about the wrestling but it grew on me and actually got me to start watching again after 20yrs. My favorite segment is with Sal & you can tell those 2 are real friends. As his friend can jimmy please tell Sal he’s on TELEVISION and to stop wearing the same awful grey pants and ratty sneakers on EVERY Baseball Night in NY. How is it possible to wear the same pants on EVERY SHOW!!!
-
msilvers1979Love the show. NFL Booth QuestionHey guys! It's been a while for me to write a review. Just want to say the Traina Thoughts with Sal segment is appointment listening. Sometimes I will skip the main guest, but I never miss Traina Thoughts. Question for you guys. Do you see a day where some network adds Mina Kimes to one of their booths? She does do Rams preseason games with Andrew Siciliano and Andrew Whitworth. Not exactly a fish out of water scenario. Who is going to take the plunge?
-
LateNightBRiLoyal listener, first-time reviewerHi, Jimmy! I’m a loyal listener. I really enjoy the podcast, both the guest interviews & Traina Thoughts with Sal. I also love the Seinfeld, Curb & other non-sports TV references. Ian Eagle was fantastic, as always! NFL, NCAA hoops, Greg Gumbel tribute, hotel tips, TSA stories! Please don’t let a calendar year go by without Ian. Keep up the great work! Still looking to go to Maureen’s Kitchen. It’s a little far for me, but I know it’s worth it.
-
morganwh05Phenomenal show, but one guest hasn’t been here…Hey Jimmy love the show, but there’s one guest that I’ve never seen here that we all need…Ernie Johnson! Especially with everything happening with WBD and the licensing deal, I’d love to hear Ernie on the show. Keep up the great work, I’ll be waiting for that notification
-
OregonDuckGuyEnjoyable, entertaining and uniqueJimmy’s passion and enthusiasm for all things sports media is what makes listening to this podcast fun. He’s your average dude at home watching sports, but he happens to have a podcast to share his thoughts. He’s the sort of neighbor that you’d never want to run into on the sidewalk because he’d talk your ear off about some very important, but hilarious topic. Highly recommend and look forward to all his insights and stories in the year to come.
-
Rutgers2005PronunciationLong time listener. Really enjoy everything about the show. My only constructive criticism is that Jimmy needs to learn how to properly say the words Bonus Cash when reading his promos. It is comical how he continually says Bonush Cash as if these words were the two hardest words to pronounce in the English language. Just say it slowly - bonus and then cash. Keep up the great work Jimmy and Sal!
-
80'sVillagerButt SmoocherCouldn’t you have challenged Schrager for smooching Rodger’s butt as much as he did? How about mentioning Jimmy Kimmel shutting Rodgers up by threatening to sue him for false accusation?
-
LBJ503Great pod, but hate nepotismSal, please tell your honchos at WFAN, no one wants to hear Mike Francesca’s 20 year old son’s NFL picks. Are we kidding w the content?!? What 20 year-old caller would you care about hearing from their viewpoint? Your listeners don’t either.
-
Pistol from BristolLoved the Sean McDonough pod. When he did the Howard cosell imitation about his father Will and the knock down punch I almost fell off my chair! You’re on a great run with guests keep up the great work
-
SC DavidlawExcellent podcast! The guests are great (love them all except the wrestling guys) but what really makes the podcast unique is the discussion with Sal at the end of each episode. Jimmy and Sal are the only two things I like about New York. Jimmy, thanks for the suggestion about the Michael Richards book - it’s terrific. PS: I was an extra in a bunch of Seinfeld episodes. For example, I’m the guy right next to George when he gives the Ovaltine speech instead of risk management.
-
GlassboroboyBrady & SternJimmy, love the weekly pods. Just finished the episode with Bryan from the Ringer and have one comment regarding your discussion regarding Tom Brady. Your discussion mentioned that he was announcing the Super Bowl and was he ready. To me the NFC championship game is ten bigger concern since there are so many Super Bowl parties not many people have the volume up to actually listen to ye game. Secondly, with all your Stern show references, why not bring on Baba Boey, Richard &/or JD for Trania thoughts segment with Sal.
-
NWA870Great PodHi Jimmy - continue to enjoy the pod! Have been a listener for over four years. Just an observation but when thinking about the recent Nantz and Romo interview I felt as if Tony is sort of out to lunch. He just rambles on in into the wilderness. I don’t mind Tony but man is ever a rough 1:1 interview. I didn’t know where he was going half the time. Just sharing how I thought he came across. Jim as always is a hall of famer! Anyway, think you and Sal are on a roll! Keep up the good work. Kevin Butler. Berryville, AR
-
Ninja SweetThe quest to 4.7Great show. Sal is a true renaissance man, as he is wise on so many fronts. Jimmy should receive “bonush cash” from Underdog if he can correctly pronounce “bonus cash.”
-
MadMaxxtLove this showJimmy has the best guests and genuinely enjoy the Traina thoughts segment at the end of each show. I love the 30 minutes of wrap up Jimmy does in each interview (“Okay, last topic and I’ll get you outta here…”) How Sal’s wife puts up with him, I’ll never know. And, can I get the story behind Sal’s Falcon fandom? What an awful and miserable existence that must be. Also, will be going to NYC quite a bit in the next year, can I get the name of the places you and Sal (and/or others) love to eat?
-
Tim in a Flyover StateMy Weekly FixI wake up Thursday mornings ready to listen to this Pod. It has come out later in the time of day recently which has thrown my listening schedule off some. Amazing the guest line up Jimmy is able to pull. Also think it’s done wonders for how I view Jim Nantz. He comes off very likable and actually seems like he would be a good hang Then the icing on the cake with Sal at the end of every episode. Jimmy and Sal, what are your favorite Thanksgiving side dishes? Thanks I’ll hang up and listen off are
-
mberman101Great listenWeek after week a solid podcast. Even when I’m not interested in the guest (very rare) the Sal segment makes up for it. I would listen to the Sal portion first but I like to save the best for last.

In Mr S we trustBring all guests/ WWE foreverHey Jimmy and Sal, all your guests are awesome. I listen to it when I am working out/driving or unwinding for the day. Next time you are in Las Vegas visit Dom DeMarco’s, which is part of DIfara in Brooklyn. Look up Dave Portnoy Dom DeMarco’s. He gave us a 7.9 rating. The reason being is DIFara is a 19 inch and our is an 18 inch. Brent Musburger is a regular when he is in town. Jim Feist does his weekly podcast from our patio. You should give it a listen. They record on Thursdays noon Pacific. Also, if you watch VSIN on Friday nights with Matt Youmans he mentioned the our other New York style restaurant we have called Brooklyn’s best pizza and pasta. I look forward to your podcast weekly. Keep up the good work.
